The 3rd week of IPL 2025 has come to an end, and in the 25th match, Chennai Super Kings will host Kolkata Knight Riders at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday. The Chennai Super Kings are currently struggling in the league, but playing at home and scoring a win against the defending champions will be a huge boost in the morale of the team.
The Chennai Super Kings are coming back home after a defeat against the Punjab Kings in a high-scoring fixture. It was a defeat that happened because of the failure of the top-order of Chennai Super Kings, and the time has come for team management to make tough decisions.

It was a high-scoring fixture where the opening batters failed to give their team a stable start in the early hours of the game. Chennai Super Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders - Previous Encounter
The two teams met in IPL 2024 last time at the same venue, and the hosts scored a comfortable win. However, the Kolkata Knight Riders went to qualify for the playoffs and won the IPL 2024 trophy.
Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first. Their bowlers gave a positive start to the team by getting rid of the top order in the early hours of the game. Tushar Deshpande and Ravindra Jadeja scalped 3 wickets in 4 overs at an economy of 8.25 and 4.50, respectively. They both are still part of the squad and might repeat their performance at home.
The batter from Kolkata Knight Riders started off slow, and hence, they were unable to reach a nominal score. Shreyas Iyer was the leading scorer with 34 off 32 balls at a strike rate of 106.25. However, Iyer is not part of the squad this year. Angkrish Raghuvanshi scored 24 off 18 balls at a strike rate of 133.33.
On the batting front, Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad gave the team a dominating start by scoring 67 off 58 balls at a strike rate of 115.52. Shivam Dube also contributed with 28 off 18 at a strike rate of 155.56.
The bowling unit of the Kolkata Knight Riders was weak and failed to perform under pressure. Vaibhav Arora picked up 2 wickets at an economy of 7 in 4 overs. He is currently the leading wicket-taker for the team, and hence, he might be in the spotlight for the Friday fixture. The rest of the bowling unit was a failure, and hence, KKR failed to stop the opposition from completing the chase.
