Chennai Super Kings vs Punjab Kings - Previous Encounter
In the previous meeting, Punjab Kings hosted Chennai Super Kings at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium. It was a high-scoring match where Punjab Kings came out as the winners and scored a comfortable win. The two teams were in tight competition during the game, but it was not a good day for the bowlers from either end.
Punjab Kings won the toss and elected to bat first. However, there was only one man who performed exceptionally well in Punjab’s batting lineup. Priyansh Arya came out as the leading run-scorer with 103 runs in 42 balls at a strike rate of 245.24. He consistently scored runs for the team in every spell but failed to get any from the other end. Shashank Singh (52 off 36) and Marco Jansen (34 off 19) also had a good partnership and gave the required push to the overall score.
Chennai Super Kings' bowling unit did scalp wickets in every spell, but they were expensive. Khaleel Ahmed and Ravichandran Ashwin picked up 2 wickets each at an economy of 11.25 and 12, respectively. Mukush Choudhary and Noor Ahmad contributed with a single wicket each.
It was a slow start for Punjab Kings' bowling unit. They failed to scalp wickets in the early hours of the game and eventually the pressure was visible. Lockie Ferguson picked up 2 wickets at an economy of 10. Yash Thakur and Glenn Maxwell scalped a single wicket each. They kept good control over the game during the middle overs and scored a win.
For Chennai Super Kings, Devon Conway scored 69 off 46 balls at a strike rate of 140.82. Rachin Ravindra was his partner and scored 36 off 23 balls at a strike rate of 156.52. Shivam Dube also managed to score 42 off 27 balls at a strike rate of 155.56. However, it was not enough to score a win in the game.
