Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians - Previous Encounter
Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians is going to be the first meeting for IPL 2025. The last time these two teams met was in the previous edition at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, where the hosts, the Rajasthan Royals, came out as the winners. It was a comfortable victory for the hosts, and the onus of the win goes to their top-order batting unit.
Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bat first. Their decision soon turned out to be a nightmare as they lost their first 4 wickets at a score of 52 runs. Tilak Varma at number 4 handled the situation well and scored 65 off 45 balls at a strike rate of 144.44. Nehal Wadhera was on fire and scored 49 off 24 balls at a strike rate of 204.17.
Rajasthan Royals' bowling unit started on a positive note and gave a major advantage to the team. Sandeep Sharma was the star of the show as he scalped 5 wickets at an economy of 4.50. Trent Boult picked up 2 wickets at an economy of 8. Avesh Khan and Yuzvendra Chahal contributed with a single wicket each.
Mumbai Indians had one of the worst bowling attacks on that day. They were only able to pick a single wicket, which was by Piyush Chawla at an economy of 8.25. The whole bowling unit failed to do their job and came out as a weaker section for the team.
The Rajasthan Royals' batting unit was dominating, and their top order completed the chase easily. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his century and overall reached 104 runs on 60 balls at a strike rate of 173.33. Jos Buttler scored 35 off 25 balls at a strike rate of 140. Skipper Sanju Samson contributed 38 off 28 balls at a strike rate of 135.71 to complete the chase.
