On Friday, two of the oldest arch-rivals will collide at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. CSK vs RCB will be the 8th contest in the schedule of the IPL 2025 cricket league. The two franchises have been rivals since the inception of the Indian Premier League, and that is because of the political rivalry between the two cities.
Another reason for their rivalry is the presence of two of the most beloved Indian cricketers - MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. The two Indian cricketers have experienced every minor and major aspect in IPL in the last 17 years, and coming Friday, they both will come face to face for one more time.
The Chennai Super Kings are coming to play their 2nd fixture after a win over the Mumbai Indians in the first match. It was a close encounter where Chennai’s bowling unit did a great job by controlling the game from the start. Afghanistan’s left-arm Wrist spinner, Noor Ahmed, turned out to be the leading wicket-taker for the team with 4 wickets at an economy of 4.50. Khaleel Ahmed was the 2nd highest wicket-taker for Chennai with 3 wickets at an economy of 7.25.
On the batting front, Chennai’s top order did most of the job to get closer to the target. New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra scored 65 off 45 balls at a strike rate of 144.44. He was in partnership with skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, who scored 53 off 26 balls at a strike rate of 203.85.
Royal Challengers Bangalore will be on Cloud 9 after defeating the defending champions in the first match. The onus of the win goes to their top order who dominated the game at the early spell of the match. In their bowling unit, Krunal Pandya was the top wicket-taker with 3 wickets at an economy of 7.25. Josh Hazlewood scalped 2 wickets at an economy of 5.50.
On the batting front, Phil Salt (56 off 31) and Virat Kohli (59 off 36) started on a strong note. Virat Kohli remained on the pitch till the end.
