Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals - Previous Encounter

It has been more than a year since the previous encounter between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals took place. The two teams met in the previous edition of the Indian Premier League and in the first week of the league stage. It was a high-scoring match where Delhi Capitals came out as the winners.

Delhi Capitals were led by David Warner, and they lost the toss but got the opportunity to bat first. Skipper David Warner (46 off 31) and Prithvi Shaw (54 off 38) gave a stable start to the team. However, it was Rilee Russow who stole the show by scoring 82 off 37 balls at a strike rate of 221.62.

Punjab Kings' bowling unit displayed a poor show. They were costly, and the pacers failed to take early control of the game. Sam Surran was the only wicket-taker for the Kings as he scalped 2 wickets in 5 overs at an economy of 9.

Delhi Capitals were successful in the early overs as their bowlers got rid of the opening partnership in the early hours. Ishant Sharma and Anrich Nortje scalped 2 wickets each at an economy of 12 and 9, respectively. Khaleel Ahmed and Axar Patel also managed to scalp a single wicket each.

Punjab Kings' batting unit was unstable, and their middle order couldn't handle the pressure. Atharva Taide scored 55 off 42 balls at a strike rate of 130.95, but he retired hurt. Liam Livingstone was the top scorer with  94 runs on 48 balls at a strike rate of 195.83. However, their innings were not enough to help the team complete the chase.
