PSL 2025 - What is Next for Each Team?

Pakistan Super League has received a major blow because of the ongoing political tensions between India and Pakistan. PSL committee and Pakistan Cricket Board have suspended the league, and there is no fixed date decided yet for its resumption.

At first, PSL 2025 was set to resume in the UAE, but eventually, the authorities in the UAE denied the claim, and the league was left hanging in the middle. However, in recent news, the ceasefire has taken place between the two countries, and now the league is expected to begin again.

The tenth season of the Pakistan Super League has witnessed some dramatic matches and fabulous performances from the players who are part of it. However, it is expected that once the league restarts, it will have some major repercussions on the players and the momentum of every team.

The league was suspended after the Quetta Gladiators vs Islamabad United fixture at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. PSL 2025 is still left with 4 league matches, 3 playoffs, and a final. Once the date to restart the league is announced, the new schedule will be shared by PCB.

The cricket fans and best betting apps from across the globe are waiting for the league to start. In this article, we bring you a detailed analysis of what to expect next in PSL 2025.

PSL 2025 - Qualification Scenario for Each Team

1) Quetta Gladiators

Quetta Gladiators have reached the top of the point table with 6 wins and 2 losses at the league stage. Their net run rate stands at +1.53, and they have come out as the strong contenders to reach the finals. After scoring a win over Islamabad United in the previous game, Quetta Gladiators have already cemented their space in the playoffs, and they are now left with a single game. Their last fixture is against Multan Sultans, and it is expected to be a one-sided affair. A win in the last match will give them a finish at the top of the point table and the confidence which is required to make it to the final game.

2) Karachi Kings

Karachi Kings have been an inconsistent performer this year in the league. They started their campaign with a big win over Multan Sultans in the first game, which was a high-scoring match. However, they soon lost the ability to continue the momentum and, on multiple occasions, felt short of scoring a win. After scoring a win against Lahore Qalandars in the previous game, Karachi Kings stand at the 2nd spot in the league with 5 wins and 3 losses with a net run rate of +0.433. Karachi Kings are yet to play two fixtures in the league stage, and to qualify for the playoffs, they need to win both matches. Karachi Kings will meet Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United in the next two matches of PSL 2025.

3) Islamabad United

The defending champions, Islamabad United, are a team that can come out of any difficult situation in PSL, and they have proved it every time things have gotten tough for them. At the start of the new campaign, Islamabad United was on a winning streak of 5 matches; however, after their first loss against Lahore Qalandars, Islamabad United lost track of their performance. They are now on a losing streak of 4 matches, and it has also impacted their position in the point table. After their previous loss against Quetta Gladiators, Islamabad United currently stand at the 3rd spot in the point table with 5 wins and 4 losses. To qualify for the playoffs, the United needs to win their last fixture of the league stage, which is against Karachi Kings.

4) Lahore Qalandars

There is a tough fight going on between Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United in the league. The two teams are at a one-point differential. Lahore Qalandars are currently at the 4th spot in the league with 4 wins and 4 losses with a net run rate of +0.958. They are left with a single fixture to be played at the league stage, and even if they win the match, their playoff qualification will depend on the result of the other matches. The only positive aspect Lahore Qalandars have is a strong net run rate. Their net run rate will play an important role in helping them qualify for the next round.

5) Peshawar Zalmi

Peshawar Zalmi have scored an equal number of wins as Lahore Qalandars, but their net run rate is poor. It can be officially said that they are eliminated from the league. Peshawar Zalmi are left with a single fixture at the league stage, and even if they win, they won’t be able to make it to the playoffs of the league. Their journey was a roller coaster ride, but the players failed to maintain consistency in the league.

6) Multan Sultans

It is going to be the first time in 5 years that Multan Sultans won’t see themselves being part of the playoffs. One of the strongest teams in the league has completely failed to perform, and they have finished their league stage at the bottom of the point table. Multan Sultans are left to play their last fixture once the league resumes, and a win won’t help them with anything.
