Bangladesh U-19 and Nepal U-19 are all but poised to have a crack at each other in the fifth match of the ACC Men's U19 Asia Cup on December 1, 2024. This Group B fixture will take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium (DICS) and commence at 10:30 AM IST. Bangladesh U-19 have kicked off their campaign with an impressive win against Afghanistan U-19 in their tournament opener whereas a bruised Nepal U-19 side will look to bounce back and get back to winning ways after a humiliating 55-run loss against Sri Lanka U-19.

Bangladesh U-19 are second in the Group B points table sitting just under Sri Lanka U-19. The defending champions tasted early success in the tournament by securing a clinical victory against Afghanistan U-19 by 45 runs. The skipper Azizul Hakim single-handedly laid a solid foundation by slamming a stunning century (103 off 133) and with a useful contribution of 66 (110) from Kalam Siddiki, Bangladesh were able to set a target of 229.
The target proved to be very daunting for the young Afghans as both Al Fahad and Iqbal Hossain Emon ed three-fers each to dismantle the Afghanistan batting lineup and bundle them out cheaply for 183. The young Tigers have only lost one game in their last five fixtures, their sole defeat coming against Pakistan in the ICC U-19 World Cup match in Benoni. Moreover, Bangladesh U-19 have an impressive record against Nepal U-19 in YODI and have won all their last five fixtures against them. Their only defeat in this format came way back in 2002 in the U-19 World Cup.
Hakim will be coming off after an impressive century and it will be interesting to see how he takes his side forward with his batting and leadership skills. He is currently the tournament's sole centurion and is in the midst of a superb run with the bat. Al Fahad and Hossain Emon showed a lot of promise in the last game averaging 12 and nearly 13 respectively with the ball.

Nepal have been crushed and humiliated by Sri Lanka U-19 in their very first game of the tournament and have succumbed to the lowest position in the Group B points table. The young Nepalese team has been jolted very early in their campaign and it will not be easy for them to regroup against a resurgent Bangladesh U-19 side who have a dominant record against them.
A formidable show from the Nepalese bowlers restricted Sri Lanka U-19 to 233. Santosh Yadav starred with the ball picking up 4-45 while Yuvraj Khatri and Naren Saud also played their part picking up 3 wickets between them. However, they failed to apply themselves with the bat. Mayan Yadav was the only batter in the Nepalese batting lineup to cross the 20-run mark and top-scored for his side by slamming an impressive 62 (91). With no major contributions coming off the bat of other batters Nepal U-19 lost their way and were bowled out for 178.
Mayan displayed a positive temperament while batting and he could be someone who can play a key role with the bat in this forthcoming fixture. He is the third-highest run scorer in this tournament while Santosh Yadav is currently the tournament's leading wicket-taker averaging only 11.25 whilst maintaining a strike rate of 15.

The weather in Dubai is going to be warm and sunny on matchday with humidity rates expected to be around 45%. We can expect a clear sunny sky with temperatures expected to hover between 22C to 30 C. At present, there is no chance of any precipitation on match day.
The deck at DICS is expected to be a balanced deck suited both for the batters and bowlers alike. However, teams batting first in this competition have been able to defend successfully on one occasion. The pitch tends to favor the batting side in the first innings and stroke-making tends to be more fluent as opposed to the second half.
Teams have enjoyed chasing at this venue since as many as 20 out of 34 ODI matches have been won by the team batting first. A similar pattern is also observed in the T20 format where the side that bats last tends to dominate. The average score batting first is around 230 so teams looking to set a target should aim at least 20-30 runs higher.
Nepal's last win against Bangladesh U-19 came way back in 2002 in this format. Moreover, in very recent times, they have not had the best of the times while playing against the young Tigers. On the back of an impressive win against Afghanistan U-19, we expect Bangladesh U-19 to maintain their winning streak and secure a comfortable win over Nepal in the fixture.
