Barbados Royals will be facing Jamaica Tallawahs for the second time this season. The last time these two teams met, the match was abandoned due to rain. On a good batting wicket at the Kensington Oval, the Royals were completely outplayed by the opposition in their recent outing.
Skipper Rovman Powell will be looking for a quick comeback against a vulnerable JT batting lineup. Tallawahs would have suffered a similar fate if it wasn’t for the 97-run partnership for the 6th wicket that took them from 33 for 5 to 136 for 6.
Imad Wasim and Fabian Allen’s performances in the lower order would have given the JT skipper some belief and confidence going ahead in spite of the recent loss.
For Barbados Royals, however, it is a bit tricky to get back to a dominating position. Though they chased down 200 runs against SNP successfully, overall, their batting performances have been inconsistent.
The batting lineup of both teams is quite deep and the home team features a solid top-order with big-hitting players to open the innings.

Barbados Royals would be eager to put their recent loss behind them and get back to winning ways. Though it is not easy to recover from a 61 all-out performance, the Royals have plenty of firepower in their lineup to lead them to a big total in this match.
The openers were both out for a golden duck in the last match. And their performance is key to the Royals’ success. Rahkeem Cornwall and Kyle Mayers made quick runs in the previous game where Barbados Royals had chased down 200 runs with 6 wickets in hand.
In the last game, the Royals brought in Luke Evans at number 3 who failed to get going and was trapped lbw by Narine. Jason Holder and Rovman Powell are key batters in the lower middle order and will have the responsibility to finish the innings.
Powell needs to deliver a captain’s knock once again and make some quick runs at the death while Jason Holder and Alick Athanaze are also crucial at 4 and 5.
They need partnerships in the middle and Athanaze and Holder can together stitch one if Royals were to lose early wickets at the top. The bowlers have been expensive throughout and that will be a major concern coming into this game.
Also, the pitch is quite batting-friendly and that would be another challenge for the already struggling bowling attack. Jason Holder and Qais Ahmed are key wicket-takers in this lineup.

After two wins and an abandoned game, Jamaica Tallawahs finally suffered their first defeat of L 2023 in their last match while chasing a 211-run target at Warner Park in St Kitts & Nevis.
Like the Royals, Tallawahs had also successfully chased down a target in the game prior to their recent loss. However, a huge collapse at the top while chasing a big total put them on backfoot in the last match.
Brandon King and Kirk McKenzie had played a key role in the successful run-chase with a 52-run opening stand which set them up for a win. Openers’ failure to strike a big partnership is quite common in T20s.
And that is why the role of number 3 and 4 batters becomes so crucial. And Shamarh Brooks and Amir Jangoo haven’t been very impressive so far. They aren’t among the top-rated T20 batters but can be effective in building partnerships at 3 and 4.
There are attacking batters lower down the order and the likes of Imad Wasim and Fabian Allen at 6 and 7 showed their potential in the last game with a brilliant partnership for the 6th wicket.
The lineup is quite deep with Chris Green and Hayden Walsh handy with the bat at 8 and 9. What is crucial is Brandon King’s form at the top and a good partnership in the middle order.
There is great variety in the bowling attack with Mohammad Amir leading the pace attack and Chris Green and Imad Wasim playing the key role in the spin department.

It is a belter of a pitch at the Kensington Oval with batters finding it easy to time and execute their strokes. However, there will still some help for the spinners here. Tallawahs can have an edge with their bowling attack. The weather will be partly cloudy with a high of 27 degrees Celsius in Bridgetown on the match day.

Kensington Oval, Bridgetown in Barbados is the venue for this match where Barbados Royals lost their last game. The average 1st innings score here is 165 runs and we reckon the team batting first need to push beyond 185 to be in a strong position in the match.
Considering the failure of the batting lineup in their last game, it is better for both teams to bat first on a good batting wicket at the Kensington Oval. Guptill scored a hundred here in the last game for TKR batting first.
The two teams are coming from a loss in their last game where their batting collapsed. However, there are some positives for the Tallawahs as their lower order stepped up and delivered a good performance. Royals also have some strong finishers in the lower order but struggle with consistency.
With JT packing a strong bowling attack with quality spinners, they will have a slight edge over the Royals in our match prediction and will start as favorites to win.
