St Kitts and Nevis Patriots will face Barbados Royals after suffering a huge loss against Guyana. The Royals last played a match almost 10 days ago.

They had no game time in the second match which was abandoned without a ball being bowled.  Kyle Mayers and Rahkeem Cornwall need to get the Royals off to a flying start.

Though they’ve got Rovman Powell and Jason Holder at 5 and 6, a good knock from one of the openers is a must for a comeback.

The Patriots’ batting continued to struggle in their second match at this venue. Moreover, the bowlers also failed to make an impact as they conceded 197 runs bowling first. Evin Lewis is the only batter in the SNP lineup who looks in good touch and the spinner Izharulhaq Naveed looked promising with the ball.

It is a good batting pitch where batters from both teams should be looking to get back in form, especially if they are batting second.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots Preview

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have lost their last two matches at this venue in St Kitts and Nevis. First, their batters let them down against Jamaica as SNP ended up with 156-9 batting first.

Whereas, in the next game, the bowlers, in spite of picking up 3 wickets in the powerplay, ended up conceding 197 runs bowling first. Both departments failed miserably in both these outings for SNP.

While chasing such a big total, they were bowled out for 132 runs with only 3 of their batters reaching a double-digit score. Skipper Evin Lewis looked in great touch as he scored 48 off 24 balls which included 6 sixes and 1 four.

Lewis and Ambati Rayudu added 55 runs for the 3rd wicket and also maintained the run rate required. After Lewis’ dismissal, the batting continued to collapse and the Patriots eventually lost by 65 runs.

Andre Fletcher and Joshua Da Silva in the top 3 need to step up and deliver what’s expected of them. Though Sherfane Rutherford and Dominic Drakes are handy lower down the order at 5 and 6, a lot depends on the top 4.

Cottrell was very expensive with the ball and though Drakes and Oshane Thomas continued their wicket-taking form, they were very expensive too. Leg-break bowler Izharulhaq Naveed will be one to watch out for in this side.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots Predicted Playing XI:

Andre Fletcher, Evin Lewis (c), Joshua Da Silva (wk), Corbin Bosch, Ambati Rayudu, Sherfane Rutherford, George Linde, Dominic Drakes, Sheldon Cottrell, Izharulhaq Naveed, Oshane Thomas

Barbados Royals Preview

Barbados Royals will be locking horns with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in their 3rd match of L 2023. The Royals kicked off the season with a loss in their opening game and their next game was washed out by rain.

It has been almost 10 days since they last played a L T20 match. Powell would be hoping to put the batting collapse well behind them.

They’ve got great potential in the batting lineup with the likes of Cornwall and Mayers at the top and Powell and Holder in the lower middle order.

Bowling all-rounder Justin Greaves was sent in at number 3 followed by another lesser-known player Kevin Wickham at number 4 in the last match. These two should be able to resurrect the innings if Mayers and Cornwall are back in the hurt early.

Powell can also think of himself at number 4 to give a boost to the momentum of the innings. If the current number 3 and 4 continue to fail, Donavon Ferreira is a shoo-in for those positions given his experience.

While everyone in the batting lineup failed, it was Nyeem Young, a 22-year-old right-arm medium pacer who scored 48 off 39 balls at number 8 for Barbados while chasing 202 runs.

It is not just the batting lineup that needs to bounce back. The bowlers conceded 200 runs bowling first in that game. Nyeem Young was too expensive and needs to improve. Qais Ahmed, Jason Holder, and Obed McCoy will be the key bowlers in this squad.

Barbados Royals Predicted Playing XI:

Kyle Mayers, Rahkeem Cornwall, Kevin Wickham, Rovman Powell (c), Donavon Ferreira (wk), Jason Holder, Justin Greaves, Joshua Bishop, Qais Ahmad, Nyeem Young, Obed McCoy

Barbados Royals Actual Playing XI:

Nyeem Young, Justin Greaves, Kevin Omar Wickham, Obed McCoy, Rovman Powell, Jason Holder, Rahkeem Cornwall, Alick Athanaze, Kyle Mayers, RE Van Der Merwe, Qais Ahmad

Weather Conditions

It is a good batting pitch where Guyana recently scored 197 runs batting first while Tallawahs had chased down 157 in just 17 Overs and 8 wickets in hand. It will be a tough outing for the bowlers and they should be looking to get the yorker right in the death overs. Spinners can get some help from the surface and will be key bowlers for both teams. The weather would be mostly cloudy with a high of 31 degrees Celsius.

Warner Park, Basseterre in St Kitts and Nevis will host the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots vs. Barbados Royals encounter of the L 2023. While the average 1st innings score here is 164 runs, a match-winning total would be something over 180 runs.

Toss: To Bowl

Though SNP opted to bowl in the last game, they ended up on the losing side. This shouldn’t stop the Royals from bowling first. It is a good wicket and has favored the team chasing a total. We reckon even Patriots would consider bowling first given the batting strength of Barbados Royals and their own bowling form.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots are coming into this game on the back of two consecutive losses at this venue. While the Royals also had a terrible last game, it was 10 days ago. Patriots’ struggle, however, is quite recent and their lack of form and momentum would trouble them here.

Though the Royals haven’t played a lot of cricket to assess their potential, considering the Patriots’ current form with both bat and ball, we reckon, the Barbados Royals would have a slight edge going into this match.
