Colombo Strikers Preview

The Strikers went down against the Dambulla Sixers in the last game by 28 runs. Skipper Thisara Perera would look to make a strong comeback in this knockout game. They have won both games against the Kandy Falcons this season and Perera would like his players to take inspiration from that win.  

Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Angelo Perera didn’t score in the last game and the team expects a strong start. Muhammad Waseem, Glenn Phillips, and Sadeera Samarawickrama strengthen the middle order and shall look to do well. The side will expect quick runs from Thisara Perera, Shadab Khan, and Dunith Wellalage in the lower middle order.  

They have a strong bowling attack, and the side will need early wickets from Binura Fernando and Isitha Wijesundera. Thisara Perera and Shadab Khan have a lot of experience and the team needs a strong show from them. Matheesha Pathirana and Dunith Wellalage add variety to this attack, making it strong.

Wanindu Hasaranga and his side delivered when it mattered the most. They won the last game against the Dambulla Sixers by 54 runs to finish ahead of the Sixers on the points table, making it to the playoffs. They started the season as one of the strongest sides but have been inconsistent. Hasaranga would like his players to do well in this must-win game and survive to fight another day.  

The team will need a strong performance from Dinesh Chandimal and Andre Fletcher, as it has been one of the weaknesses this season. Hasaranga will look to anchor the middle order and add runs with Mohammad Haris and Kamindu Mendis. Angelo Matthews and Dasun Shanaka are good hitters and shall look to up the scoring rate in the death overs.  

Dasun Shanaka and Angelo Matthews must get the early breakthroughs as the Strikers have a strong top order. Mohammad Hasnain, Ramesh Mendis, and Kamindu Mendis must keep a check on the scoring rate in the middle overs. Hasaranga is the best bowler in the team, and he must win it with a strong show.
