India’s insipid fast bowling has been a real headache for the team in this series.

A breathtaking show by Glen Maxwell and some astonishingly poor bowling by India resulted in an incredible last-ball for Australia in the 3rd T20I at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The series now stands at 2-1 in India’s favor. The two teams meet again on Friday at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur, where the home side will be looking to make it 3-1 and seal the series. However, with the confidence that Australia have right now, they will do all they can to make it 2-2.

India batted brilliantly in the third T20I to post a mammoth total of 222-3. Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad proved to be an absolute superstar as he smashed an unbeaten 123 off just 57 balls. However, the total didn’t prove to be enough as India’s hapless fast bowlers, particularly Prasidh Krishna (0-68 from 4 overs) and Arshdeep Singh (1-44 off 4 overs), were carted all around the park.
India’s bowling woes aside, they still have a pretty strong batting line-up. Apart from Ruturaj, you should also keep an eye on Yashasvi Jaiswal (311 runs in the last 10 matches at an average of 39 and a strike rate of 172).
Captain Suryakumar Yadav is the best T20I batter in the world, and we are expecting an impactful knock from him in this game. Shreyas Iyer will return to the squad for the last two matches and provide the middle-order with some stability. He is likely to replace Tilak Varma in the eleven.
On the bowling side of things, Deepak Chahar has been added to India's squad for the last two matches. Chahar had a good Syed Mushtaq Ali (T20) Trophy recently for Rajasthan, where he picked up 10 wickets in 5 games at an economy of 7.38. With the bat, he scored 67 runs off 39 balls at a strike rate of 171.79. His addition will give the fast bowling unit some balance.
The spinners, Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel, are doing a fine job despite getting very little help from the wickets.

Glenn Maxwell’s rampaging, unbeaten 104 off 48 balls helped Australia chase down a massive target of 223 in the third T20I. However, Maxwell, along with Sean Abbott, Josh Inglis, Marcus Stoinis, Steven Smith and Adam Zampa have now returned home. In their place, Josh Philippe, Ben McDermott, Chris Green and Ben Dwarshuis have been added to the squad for the last two matches.
The in-form Travis Head will now lead this batting attack. Head has been in sensational form over the last few weeks and will fancy his chances on this flat wicket and against this insipid Indian bowling attack.
Josh Philippe is an exciting T20 batter and has a strike rate of 134 in the format. He should relish batting on this track.
Tim David and Matthew Wade are the two batters worth watching out for. Wade looked good in his 16-ball 28 in the previous game, while David is one of the hardest hitters of the ball in world cricket.
Jason Behrendorff was the standout bowler for Australia in the third T20I, with unbelievable figures of 1-12 from 4 overs. He has looked in good rhythm and will trouble the Indian batters again.

The venue is known to have a sporting wicket that favors both batters and bowlers. There is some bounce and movement for the seam bowlers early on, and some grip for the spinners later. Batters might not find it easy early on. However, things can become easier when they are chasing if dew comes on heavily.
The weather in the evening in Raipur is expected to be hazy and cool.
This will be the first T20I to be played at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. In domestic T20s, the average first innings score here has been around the 150-160 mark. The venue has seen a team get past the 200-run mark only once in 29 T20 matches. However, the wickets have been rather flat in this series and we might get another one like that here. The team batting first will look to target a total of around 180-200.
16 of the 29 T20 games played at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur have been won by the chasing side. With dew being a huge factor in this series in the second innings, it’s almost certain that the toss-winning captain will field here.
That loss in the last T20I would have really shaken India’s confidence. If Australia was playing the same side, they would have had the edge. However, with the likes of Maxwell, Josh Inglis, and Marcus Stoinis heading home, their batting unit looks a little inexperienced. The same is the case with their bowling. India’s batting unit should produce another strong performance. But it is their hapless fast bowlers who can let them down again.
We are backing India to win this game and make it 3-1.
