The Women’s Asia Cup champions are coming to Ireland for a 2-match T20I series followed by a 3-match ODI series. The first of these matches will be played at the Pembroke Cricket Club in Dublin.
Sri Lanka are enjoying a great run of form winning back-to-back games. They won all of their matches in the T20 World Cup Qualifier and then carried the momentum to the Women’s Asia Cup where they stayed unbeaten.
Ireland Women played their last T20I against Thailand in the UAE where they bowled out the opposition for just 79 runs. And before that, Ireland toured Zimbabwe in January where they won all of the T20Is and ODIs.
Both teams are coming into this series unbeaten and will be confident of getting off to a winning start in the 1st T20I.

Ireland Women pack a strong overall side and should be confident of taking on Sri Lanka Women who will be missing their skipper in the T20Is. Laura Delany will be leading a strong Irish lineup that features their key batters like Gaby Lewis and Amy Hunter as openers.
The two openers will be crucial in setting the tone of the innings for Ireland Women. Both Lewis and Hunter made significant contributions at the top on their tour of Zimbabwe.
Batting all-rounder Orla Prendergast was another match-winner for Ireland during that series at number 3. She continued to be part of the squad and will be one to watch out for.
Skipper Laura Delany comes in at number 4. It is a solid-looking batting lineup with almost everyone playing at an impressive strike rate. The middle-order is key to a strong total and needs to build partnerships.
While they’ve been in great touch recently, whether they can face the in-form Sri Lanka bowling attack and still survive needs to be seen. Ireland Women will be facing their biggest challenge of this year so far.
Prendergast and Delany also play a key role with the ball and can deliver crucial breakthroughs. The all-rounders allow for variety in the bowling attack and will test the visitors.

Sri Lanka Women will be missing their skipper for the T20Is. She has been a major factor in their winning and her absence will affect the visitors’ batting strength quite a bit.
Vishmi Gunaratne will be the centre of attention in the top-order followed by Harshitha Samawickrama in the middle-order. A lot will depend on these two when it comes to scoring runs and posting a competitive total on the board.
Chamari Athapaththu has carried the Sri Lankan batting on her shoulders all along with very little from others. There are the likes of Hasini Perera and Anushka Sanjeewani in the middle-order who can make a significant impact.
But very rarely has anyone stepped up to be the match-winner with the bat. The right-arm off-break bowler Kavisha Dilhari has been the number 4 batter for Sri Lanka women in recent matches.
She will be one to watch out for. If the top-order collapses, there is a good chance of the hosts demolishing this batting lineup. However, in the bowling department, Sri Lanka Women are quite promising and can put the hosts in trouble.
Udeshika Prabodhani, Sugandika Kumari, and Inoshi Priyadarshani are the key wicket-takers in this squad who can turn the game around completely.

The weather will be mostly cloudy on the match day in Dublin with a high of 21 degrees Celsius. Rain is not expected during the game and we are likely to have a full 20-over-a-side match.
It is a batting-friendly wicket with an average 1st innings score of 134 runs in the last 10 matches played here. The team batting first has crossed the 200-run mark twice in the last 10 outings at this venue. The Pembroke Cricket Club in Dublin will host both T20Is of this series.
Teams bowling first have won 7 of the last 10 T20 matches played at this venue. The pitch favors batters and will allow for a comfortable run-chase as witnessed in most games on this ground.
This should be a close contest between the Asia Cup winners and Ireland Women’s T20I team. Both have plenty of match-winners in their squad and though Sri Lanka rely heavily on a couple of batters, they’ve got match-winning bowlers in the side. Since Ireland have got a strong batting order and the visitors lack reliable players in the batting order, we reckon the home team will have a slight edge going into this match and will start as favorites to win.
