This clash brings up ten matches in the 2025 SA20 and even at this early stage there is already a six point gap between the 2024 champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape who are marooned at the bottom of the table and Durban's Super Giants who are one place above them!
Pretoria Capitals have the same win-loss record as the Super Giants but have one additional point which puts them just two points behind current pace-setters MI Cape Town.
With such a congested table, there is still time for any of the top five to make a burst and finish in the top position, but a couple of consistent results will likely see any of the sides take over at the summit.
Joburg Super Kings will certainly go top if they win this match whereas Pretoria Capitals could also do so if they come out on top.

The Joburg Super Kings made it two wins out of two with a comfortable 28 runs win over Durban's Super Giants in match eight of the 2024 SA20 on Thursday evening. After posting 169/7, there were some commentators who thought the game may still be in the balance but in the end some strong bowling by the Super Kings saw them dismiss the Super Giants and win with two overs to spare.
Although they won that match, captain Faf du Plessis will be demanding more from himself and his fellow batters in this clash after he was dismissed for a three-ball one and four others of their six fell for scores between 22 and 38.
With the ball, the entire bowling attack stood up and was counted against the Super Giants with the trio of Gerald Coetzee, Donovan Ferreira and Tabraiz Shamsi all picking up two wickets.
The left-hander has been the mainstay batter for the Joburg Super Kings this season, holding their innings together. He scored 38 and 24 runs in the two matches played this season and over the last couple of seasons, he has been unstoppable at the Wanderers, averaging 56.9 and scoring 455 runs in 12 matches. Given his record at Johannesburg and his current form, we back Du Plooy to score over 19 runs against the Capitals.
Faf du Plessis (c), Devon Conway, Leus du Plooy, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Wihan Lubbe, Donovan Ferreira, David Wiese, Gerald Coetzee, Tabraiz Shamsi, Matheesha Pathirana, Imran Tahir

Pretoria Capitals were dealt a blow on Wednesday when it was announced that their star pace bowler, Anrich Nortje, was not only ruled out of this tournament but also the Champions Trophy with a back injury. Although he has not featured in either either of their three games so far in this campaign, his pace, accuracy and hostility were expected to be on full show in this clash.
In his absence, the bowling attack impressed against Sunrisers Eastern Cape with all five of the unit picking up at least one wicket and four of them taking 2+! Daryn Dupavillon was the only one to take three wickets but Eathan Bosch was the standout performer and his figures of 2/18 saw him take the Player of the Match Award.
Ahead of this game, we can expect the Capitals to bat with their now customary aggression and fearlessness. Will Jacks and Rahmanullah Gurbaz will set the tone at the top of the order with the dangerous Liam Livingstone ready to come in and entertain in the middle order.
Jacks has been in sublime form this season where he has scored 91 runs in two matches and scored over 25 runs in both of them. He is one batter who can ride on top of the bounce and hit to different parts of the ground and he will be the ideal batter to bet on for this game as he can handle the swing and pace of the JSK batters and score freely.
Will Jacks, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Kyle Verreynne (wk), Rilee Rossouw (c), Liam Livingstone, Marques Ackerman, James Neesham, Migael Pretorius, Senuran Muthusamy, Eathan Bosch, Daryn Dupavillon

After a dry morning and with mid-late evening also forecast to have no rain, there is a potential area of cloud and rain which could hover over the ground during the first innings of the match. The temperature will be up at 26 degrees with high humidity throughout.
Anyone who has watched cricket or played cricket at the Wanderers Stadium will have witnessed first hand how quick and bouncy this pitch can be. It is perhaps a little slower than it was back in the 1990s but there is still the opportunity to post big scores with the ball coming onto the bat at such a good speed.
We back the home team Joburg Super Kings to win the coin toss in today's match against the Pretoria Capitals.
The pitch at Wanderers, Johannesburg offers a balanced track, where it is on the slower side to some extent, where the average total match score in the last five SA20 games played at this venue is 323 runs.
Joburg Super Kings were able to win when chasing in the only previous game of this campaign at the Wanderers Stadium and we expect both captains to want to bowl first ahead of this match.
No one has been able to stop Joburg Super Kings as yet in the 2025 SA20 but we expect Pretoria Capitals to give them a real good test. The Capitals have explosive batting options and we predict that those options will see them cause some problems. However, overall we expect the Super Kings to come out on top.
