Although this is only the third edition of the SA20 tournament, it is already a fixture on the cricketing calendar and despite going up against other T20 competitions, it attracts many of the world's best players in this format.
Both teams have a potent mix of local players, South African stars and some international experts which should leave us with a highly competitive fixture after the opening between Southern Eastern Cape and MI Cape Town on Thursday.
Kingsmead is a fantastic venue to watch any format of cricket but really comes to life during T20 matches. The lights will come on during the second session and could play a role in the fixture. All in all, the SA20 is back and the whole world is watching!

There is plenty of unfinished business for Durban's Super Giants who went all the way to the final only to be thrashed by Southern Eastern Cape by 89 runs last season.
Captain Keshav Maharaj, who led the team impressively in 2024, will once again skipper the side and he will offer economical slow bowling as well as picking up key wickets during the tournament.
Pace for the Super Giants will come from Afghanistan's Naveen-ul-Haq, Junior Dala and Dwaine Pretorius, all of who have excellent records in this short format.
With the bat, the opening pair of Matthew Breetzke and Quinton de Kock will come out with all guns blazing before Heinrich Klaasen arrives in the finisher role as one of the best white ball batters in the world.
The wicketkeeper batter returned to form in the T20I and ODI series against Pakistan, after a rough patch and is all set to make his presence felt in his team's first fixture of the season. Klaasen scored 384 runs in 11 T20 matches at Durban and his record against the Pretoria Capitals is top notch where he has amassed 166 runs in 4 matches.

Pretoria Capitals will be desperate to improve on their poor showing in 2024 and one look at their squad has got plenty of pundits excited ahead of this campaign.
It may work, it may not, but there are plenty of young exciting international talents in the top four with only skipper Rilee Rossouw unlikely to try and hit every ball for six!
Rossouw has a fine T20 record but the new generation of Will Jacks, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Will Smeed will all be entertaining from their opening delivery.
With the ball, Anrich Nortje and Daryn Dupavillon will lead the attack, along with New Zealander James Neesham providing assistance with bat and ball.
Jacks, who had a solid SA20 season last year, scoring 245 runs in 9 innings, has struggled in franchise cricket recently. However, he could be poised for a productive outing on a good batting track where batters can trust the bounce and hit freely. At Durban, Jacks has scored 97 runs in 2 matches and averages close to 70 against the Durban Super Giants. He is an ideal batter to bet on for this game.

The sun is shining for the early stages of the SA20 and Durban is no different with the temperature set to be over 25 degrees even at the end of the match under dark! Humidity will also be high with the level over 80% throughout.

The ball will come onto the bat with pace and bounce at Kingsmead which will encourage the batters to take on big shots. However, the pace can sometimes be a little too much and the quick bowlers often leak runs but also pick up wickets. A par score batting first is likely to be around 185.
Durban and Pretoria are 2-2 in coin tosses, for this fixture we are backing the luck to be in favour of the home team Durban Super Giants.
The pitch at Kingsmead, Durban offers a lively track that favours the batters and is always renowned for high scoring games. The last time Durban and Pretoria clashed off at this venue the total match score was 340 runs.
Teams can certainly win from both positions at this venue but we expect the pitch to deliver more pace under lights so our prediction is that both captains will want to bowl first.
Pretoria Capitals look like being an improved side in this year's SA20 but this will be a big test for the side in their opening game. We are predicting a close contest but expect Durban's Super Giants to come out on top.
We are backing Durban's Super Giants to win this match!
