With just two games remaining in the group stage of the Vitality T20 Blast, the race to the quarters has become more interesting. Leicestershire, who were once close to securing the knockout berth, are now in a tight spot after winning just one game in the last five. They will be facing Nottinghamshire outlaws at Grace Road, Leicester on 14th July from 7 pm onwards.
Leicestershire played their last game against Northamptonshire yesterday at the same venue. Bowling first the Foxes restricted the visitors on 183 for the loss of 7 wickets. Ben Mike took three wickets for 17. The chase became difficult for Leicestershire as they lost their leading run-scorer Rishi Patel for 1 run. But Soloman Buddinger (45 off 25) and James Neesham (67 off 34) helped them win the game by 3 wickets with 5 balls in hand.
Nottinghamshire faced their seventh defeat of the season at the hands of Durham. Bowling first, the Notts managed to stop Durham to 160. Lyndon James took three wickets for the Outlaws. Nottinghamshire kept losing the wickets at regular intervals and eventually lost the game by 30 runs. Matthew Montgomery scored 30 off 24 but didn’t get any helping hand from the other side.
Both teams shared a point when the last game between these two ended with no result. This will be a crucial game for Leicestershire as they are tied up on fourth spot with Northamptonshire. They will be playing their final game against the first-placed Warwickshire. With Northamptonshire’s remaining game against the top three teams from the points table, Leicestershire will look forward to taking two points at any cost.

There is a high chance that Peter Handscomb will play the same team against Nottinghamshire. Rishi Patel will start the innings with Soloman Budinger. Patel has scored 401 runs this season at a strike rate of 149.81. No other batter has come close when it comes to scoring runs as he. All eyes will be on Soloman Budinger who finally showed his firepower with 45 runs off 25 balls in the final game. Leicestershire dropped Paul Stirling over Rehan Ahmed who has 77 runs in 9 games. Stirling should be brought back into the playing eleven.
Peter Handscomb is third in the run-scoring table for the Foxes with 223 runs. But his strike rate of 112 can cause a problem for the Foxes in the middle. James Neesham has finally arrived with his 67 runs off 34 balls in the last game. Brian Cox and Louis Kimber will play in the middle with Neesham. Kimber has hit the highest number of sixes from the Foxes (15). The duo strikes at more than 150 in the middle.
Scott Currie will lead the bowling unit with Lewis Goldsworthy and Josh Hull. Currie has 16 wickets in 12 games at an economy of 8.40. While Hull is just a wicket short of him with almost the same economy. Goldsworthy & Ben Mike who have claimed 26 wickets together will be the second choice for Handscomb to finish 20 overs. The issue with the Foxes bowling unit is that none of them have managed to have an economy below 6.
Key Players: Rishi Patel, James Neesham, Lewis Goldsworthy.

Nottinghamshire is struggling in both departments. No one of their players has shown a positive impact in batting and bowling. Benjamin Martindale and Joe Clarke will open the innings. Clarke is their leading run-scorer with 265 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 154.97. No other Outlaw has scored more than 200 runs for the Notts this season. The closest second to this is Jack Haynes who has 170 runs in 10 innings but his strike rate is just 112.
Liam Patterson-White at number six has added the required fire in the middle. Liam has 75 runs in 4 innings at a strike rate of 146. White has also taken 5 wickets at an economy of 7.23. The Notts batting unit has scored just three half-centuries this season. They have only two players in playing eleven with a strike rate above 130.
The bowling unit is a big issue for the Notts. Olly Stone is their only bowler who has taken more than 10 wickets (12) this season. But his economy is 9.75. Fazalhaq Farooqi has ed the squad just two games back. The ICC WT20’s third-leading wicket-taker will have a lot to prove to bring the Notts out of the bottom place.
Key Players: Joe Clarke, Liam Patterson-White, Olly Stone.

There will be periods of cloud and sunshine at Leicester. The temperatures will be between 10°C and 20°C. It’s a slightly windy day with no chance of rain. The pitch assists bowlers as compared to batters with good bounce and swing in the first innings. As the game progresses, the batters find it a bit easier to play the shots.

The 92nd match of the Vitality Blast will be played at Grace Road, Leicester on 14th July from 7 pm onwards. The venue has a capacity of 12000 spectators. It has hosted 1 Test, 21 ODIs. This will be the seventh game of the season at this venue..
In 6 games of this season, 4 have been won by the teams batting first. But the defense has shown some nail-biting finishes. The team winning the toss should bowl first here.
This will be a do-or-die game for Leceistershire if they want to stay in this competition. The win in the last game has given the squad some boost. At Grace Road, they have a 50% win and-loss ratio. Solomon Budinger is back in the form since the last two games. This will give Rishi Patel a free hand at the top to score freely.
Nottinghamshire is weak in bowling as compared to the Foxes. This season has been a sad story for them on both fronts.
We predict that Leicestershire will defeat Nottinghamshire.
