The second T20I between New Zealand and Bangladesh was washed off after only 11 due to relentless rain. Bangladesh had won the first T20I, and the result has ensured that they can’t lose this series. All eyes will now be on the third and final T20I at Mount Maunganu on the final day of the year. The Kiwis will try their all to equal the series, while Bangladesh will be gunning for a historic series win.

The second T20I saw only 11 overs being bowled before rain brought curtains to the encounter. New Zealand were 72-2 at that stage with Tim Seifert opening assault of 43 from 23 balls being the highlight of the innings.
With Seifert looking in great touch, the team will be hoping that Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips hold the middle order together. Mitchell has had a wonderful last few months and will be eager to finish the year on a high.
Phillips is a hard-hitting batsman and has recently dominated the Bangladeshi bowlers on New Zealand’s Test tour there earlier this month. We are expecting a big knock from him.
Among the bowlers, Tim Southee (11 wickets from the last 8 matches at an economy of 7.92) and Mitchell Santner (10 wickets in the last 8 matches at 6.93) are the ones you can bank on.

Bangladesh did well to claw back in the second T20I after Tim Seifert’s assault. Unfortunately, the game couldn’t be completed. But the visitors will still be pretty happy with the way they have played over the last few days here after losing the first two ODIs.
Bangladesh are looking more confident since that win and might stretch the home side again.
Litton Das was the top-scorer for them in the first T20I, with a breezy, unbeaten 42 off 36 balls. The opener is expected to provide the team with a solid start again.
Soumya Sarkar is another one worth backing. He recently blasted his career-best ODI score against the Kiwis and will be oozing with confidence.
Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto has had a quiet tour, but this might just be the game where he leaves his stamp.
Bangladesh are pretty sorted in their bowling, with plenty of options. Shoriful Islam has been the pick of the lot, claiming 4 wickets in 2 innings at an average of 10.50. Mahedi Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman have taken 2 wickets each while also being quite economical.

The pitch at Bay Oval is usually very good for batting, and another high-scoring game might be on the cards. The pitch does tend to slow down a little as the game progresses, which allows the spinners to come in. Seam bowlers too should get consistent help as well.
The weather in Mount Maunganu during the day of the match is expected to be cloudy, with occasional rain and a thunderstorm in the afternoon.
The average score batting first at Bay Oval is 171. The highest total posted here is 243-5 by New Zealand against West Indies in 2018. The team batting first in this game should look to set a target of around 200 runs.
All eight completed T20is played at Bay Oval have been won by the team batting first. But rain is expected on the day of the match, which might tempt the toss-winning side to bowl first.
New Zealand have a great record against Bangladesh in T20Is, but they are not at full strength. Bangladesh outclassed them in the first T20I and were fighting back in the second game as well. They won’t go down easy in this format, and it looks like we are in for a tight contest. The only thing that might let the Tigers down is their batting. New Zealand will be hungry for a win, and on this batting beauty of a pitch, we feel they will have the upper hand as they have the batters to make full use of it.
Back New Zealand as the winners of this contest.
