South Africa Women will lock horns with New Zealand Women in the 4th T20I which will be played at the Willowmoore Park in Benoni. So far, all the matches have ended without a result with the 1st and 3rd T20I being abandoned without a ball being bowled.

It was only in the 2nd T20I that we got some action with the hosts completely dominating the NZ Women in the field. They restricted a strong NZ batting lineup to 111-9 bowling first.

Had it not been for the rain that day, South African women would have gained a 1-0 lead in the series. The venue now changes from Buffalo Park to Willowmoore Park for the remaining two matches of this T20I series.

The weather forecast is for a clear and sunny day in Benoni and we can expect a full match with a result. The chasing team has won most of the game at this venue and both skippers should be looking to bowl first.

South Africa Women Preview

The last time South African women played T20Is at home was during the tri-series earlier in January this year. They won 3 of the 5 matches including the Final against India Women.

Soon after that, they were on tour of Pakistan where they lost all the 3 T20Is in Karachi. The hosts have been very impressive at the Buffalo Park and they will be a little disappointed to have missed the chance of sealing a series win.

Nonkululeko Mlaba, a left-arm orthodox bowler has featured consistently in this South African bowling attack and is one of the key bowlers making the biggest impact.

Another left-arm orthodox bowler who is in great shape and looks promising at the moment is Chloe Tryon. She picked 4 wickets for 15 runs from her 4 Overs as the hosts restricted the visitors to 111-9 in the 2nd T20I.

These two are key bowlers in this lineup whose form is crucial to the team’s success. Bowling all-rounder Marizanne Kapp is an experienced player who also plays a crucial role with bat in the middle order.

With no Sune Luus in the side and opener Laura Wolvaardt in the skipper’s role, the likes of Anneke Bosch and Marizanne Kapp will be key players in the middle order.

Chloe Tryon is also handy lower down the order and will be one to watch out for. It is a strong overall side with many promising all-rounders who can deliver in every department.

South Africa Women Predicted Playing XI:

Laura Wolvaardt (c), Tazmin Brits, Anneke Bosch, Sune Luus, Marizanne Kapp, Nadine de Klerk, Chloe Tryon, Sinalo Jafta (wk), Nonkululeko Mlaba, Ayabonga Khaka, Masabata Klaas

South Africa Women Actual Playing XI:

Masabata Klaas, Tumi Sekhukhune, Laura Wolvaardt, Nonkululeko Mlaba, Delmi Tucker, Sune Luus, Anneke Bosch, Chloe Tryon, Nadine de Klerk, Sinalo Jafta, Tazmin Brits

New Zealand Preview

Sophie Devine will be disappointed with her team’s performance in the 2nd T20I and more so by the games being abandoned due to rain. New Zealand Women have been quite inconsistent of late.

On their tour of Sri Lanka back in June-July, the Whiteferns lost the ODI series and then bounced back with wins in the first two matches of the T20I series. However, in the 3rd and the last match, they were outplayed by the hosts.

It was only in the 3rd T20I that NZ Women were put to bat first. They finished with 140 runs and lost the game by 10 wickets. Looking at the stats of this venue here, it looks like the visitors would face the same challenge all over again.

They were already on the back foot in the 2nd T20I when they batted first. Opener Suzie Bates is a key batter for New Zealand in the top order. She has been prolific in run chases and will need to deliver a good knock even if they bat first.

In the middle-order Ameleia Kerr and skipper Sophie Devine are the reliable figures who can strike crucial partnerships in the middle overs. The number 5 batter Maddy Green also strikes the ball well and can score quick runs.

She was the top scorer for the visitors with an unbeaten 45 off 36 balls in the 2nd T20I at Buffalo Park. Though the batting lineup is deep most of the scoring responsibilities lie on these key batters.

While Fran Jonas will be a key spinner in this lineup, the likes of Jess Kerr and Lea Tahuhu should be leading the pace attack. Eden Carson is another spinner who’s been consistently delivering breakthroughs.

New Zealand Predicted Playing XI:

Suzie Bates, Kate Anderson, Bella Armstrong, Amelia Kerr, Sophie Devine (c), Isabella Gaze (wk), Maddy Green, Brooke Halliday, Lea Tahuhu Eden Carson, Fran Jonas

New Zealand Actual Playing XI:

Sophie Devine, Molly Penfold, Brooke Halliday, Hannah Rowe, Suzie Bates, Georgia Plimmer, Maddy Green, Kate Anderson, Amelia Kerr, Fran Jonas, Jess Kerr

Weather Conditions

The pitch is good for batting but also offers help for spinners. It will be an exciting contest between bat and the ball with spinners playing a key role in both innings. It will be a sunny day in Benoni with a high of 28 degrees Celsius.

RSAW vs NZW Pitch Report

Willowmoore Park in Benoni will be the venue for the 4th and 5th T20I matches of this NZ Women’s tour of South Africa. The average 1st innings score here in T20Is is 134 runs which is not much and shows that a winning score could be anything above 150 runs on this ground. Though chasing has been the preferred choice, 150+ will not be easy given the help on offer for spinners and the quality of spin bowing in both teams.

Toss: To Bowl

Teams bowling first have won 14 of the 23 T20Is played at this venue. Both teams have a strong bowling attack that can get through the top order of the opposition early in the innings and gain the upper hand. Both skippers will be keen on bowling first in this match.

There is no doubt about the bowling strength of both teams. They are equally matched teams in every aspect whether it’s the skills and abilities or the experience. A lot depends on the toss in this match and the team bowling first will have a huge advantage.

The hosts, South Africa Women, will have the home advantage, and with their key players in great form, will start with a slight edge in our match prediction.
