Sunrisers Eastern Cape beat Pretoria Capitals by 9 wickets
Who’ll come out victorious in this repeat of the first SA20 final? Will it be the Eastern Cape again? Or will the Capitals go back to bossing the men in Orange just like they did in the league stage last year?
We are backing Sunrisers Eastern Cape to win this match.

It’s a repeat of last year’s final faceoff, except Sunrisers Eastern Cape are just starting to show glimpses of their strong performances last season but Pretoria Capitals are nowhere near their best.
This contest marks the first of two encounters between these two teams, with the second one scheduled to happen at Centurion a few days later.
The Eastern Cape will be eyeing a victory to give their home fans something to cheer about, as both their wins this season came away from home.
The Capitals set a benchmark last season but have been nowhere near that with some poor performances to start off this year’s SA20. Pretoria Capitals won both group stage matches against the Eastern Cape last season, but lost to them in the final.
It would be interesting to see how these two teams stack up on the head-to-head after these league stage fixtures.

Currently third on the table, the Eastern Cape have eked out two wins in three of their completed matches. They were decimated by Durban’s Super Giants at home, but recovered in time to a hard-fought win against MI Cape Town away from home.
A close victory in a tense and tight encounter has often proved to be a turnaround point for several successful teams in T20 franchise cricket. And the Eastern Cape certainly thought so, as they travelled further away from home to complete an easy victory against the Super Giants at Durban. Having won two games on the bounce, they’re not going to take the foot off the gas.
They are yet to win a home match this season, and a victory against at Pretoria Capitals at home will be a perfect treat for their fans. Their top four is in good nick, and even if one of them fail someone stands up and delivers with the bat.
Jordan Hermann, Dawid Malan, Tom Abell, and Aiden Markram have been handy with the bat. Tristan Stubbs has had some impact with the bat in two of their games already, with scores of 55 and 66. Lanky allrounder Marco Jansen’s indifferent form has been a cause for concern, but the Eastern Cape will give him the long rope for the talent and skill he possesses.

The Capitals start to this SA20 couldn’t have been more disappointing. Back to back losses against Paarl Royals at and away from home was a huge setback, but they surprised everyone with an upset victory over Durban’s Super Giants at Centurion.
But a thrashing at the hands of Joburg Super Kings meant they couldn’t stretch that win to a winning streak and infuse some momentum in their campaign. With one win in three matches, they’re now at the bottom of the ladder and have a steep mountain to climb if they are to contest with other teams in qualifying to the playoffs.
Will Jacks has been brilliant with the bat and the ball, but is kind of waging a lone battle for his team He is way ahead of his team mates on the runs tally and has picked up 5 wickets in 4 outings at an economy rate of 6.30, which is remarkable. Lack of consistency from the top order and lack of form of certain middle order batsmen have plagued the Capitals.
The Bosch brothers are having a horrid time proving their all-round ability in the middle, and it shows in the team’s failure to get on top of their opposition and win games consistently.
Philip Salt (wk), Will Jacks, Kyle Verreynne, Rilee Rossouw, Colin Ingram, James Neesham, Corbin Bosch, Wayne Parnell (c), Eathan Bosch, Hardus Viljoen, Adil Rashid.

The pitch here is a bit indifferent and you don’t quite know what strip you’re playing on. It is batting friendly at times, and on certain occasions, breaks up quickly to give bowlers particularly the spinners plenty of assistance. Left arm spin bowlers are often hard to negotiate here if they hit the right lengths. The forecast for the morning is a bit grim, but the weather should improve toward evening.
The match will be played at the St. George’s Park, Gqeberha. Having lost 3 of their five matches here in the inaugural year, and failed, the home team failed to a win in their only match here against the Super Giants.
The Eastern Cape would be looking to bat first and post a massive total on board and end up perhaps 30 or 40 above par.
The Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s game has improved all-round after a rusty start to the season, however Pretoria Capitals can't seem to work out how to produce wins like they did last time, and are struggling to keep pace with the rest of the teams. Our money is on the Eastern Cape for this contest.
We are backing Sunrisers Eastern Cape to win this match.
