Somerset Preview

It hasn’t been as good a show from the defending champions as they would have liked. Lewis Gregory’s side went down by 5 wickets in the last game against Gloucestershire. They are fourth on the points table and must win this game to remain in the hunt for a place in the quarterfinal. It will be a tough battle against Surrey, and Gregory would like to see his players perform well.  

Will Smeed and Tom Banton are an experienced opening pair, and the side expects a strong show at the top. Tom Kohler-Core has played well and will look to build partnerships with Tom Abell and Sean Dickson in the middle order. Gregory and Ben Green will look to do the heavy lifting in the final overs.  

The bowling attack has struggled this year, and the side will expect early wickets from Riley Meredith and Josh Davey. Lewis Gregory and Jake Ball must keep the scoring rate under check on the middle overs as they have failed in several games. Roelof van der Merwe and Ben Green will look to do well in the lower middle order.

They defeated the Kent Spitfires in the last game by 5 runs under the DLS method. They have played as a well-oiled unit, and Jordan would like another spirited performance in this game.  

Ryan Patel and Dominic Sibley must bat well at the top, as Somerset has a strong bowling attack. The middle order has done well this season, and Chris Jordan will look to anchor the innings along with Laurie Evans and Rory Burns. Jordan Clark and Ben Geddes are good hitters in the lower middle order and must do well.  

Daniel Worrall and Reece Topley form a strong new ball pair, and the side needs a strong show from them at the top.
