Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) face off against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Uppal on Wednesday night in Match 41 of IPL 2025. MI had a rough start to the season but have now stitched together three wins in a row and climbed to sixth in the table. SRH are still struggling, with just two wins from seven games and no real rhythm to their campaign. Those two wins did come at home, though, and they’ll be hoping familiar conditions work in their favor again. That said, with the way MI have been playing lately, they go into this one looking like the more settled team.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have had a rough run so far—just two wins from seven games. When they’ve come out on top, it’s been because their batters blew the doors off the opposition. But if the top order falls early, they tend to fold fast and never really recover.
That’s what they’ll be hoping to avoid when they host MI. If Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head get going early, like they’ve done in a couple of games, it sets them up nicely for a big total. Heinrich Klaasen, Ishan Kishan, and Nitish Kumar follow, and while all three haven’t fired this season, there’s still confidence that Klaasen’s power game can turn up here.
Aniket Verma has been a bright spot. He’s been clearing the ropes in the back end of the innings and doing it with a strike rate of 187. They’ll enjoy the batting conditions in Hyderabad, and MI’s bowlers are going to feel the pressure.
The trouble for SRH has been with the ball. Shami and Cummins have been expensive and off rhythm lately, leaking runs at the wrong times. Harshal Patel has stepped up, using his slower balls to pick up wickets in the middle overs. Eshan Malinga has looked sharp too, always hunting for breakthroughs.
Zeeshan Ansari’s another name to watch—four wickets in five matches, and he’s been effective in the middle phases.
After a slow start to the season, Abhishek Sharma has exceled in the last two matches scoring 40 & 141 in the last two matches. His team is lanquishing at the bottom half of the table and they are in desperate need of a win. At Hyderabad in 18 matches he has notched up 513 runs, averaging 32.06.

Mumbai Indians have bounced back well after a rough stretch, stacking up three wins in a row to climb to sixth with eight points from eight games. In their latest game, they chased down 177 against CSK at home without breaking a sweat—getting it done in just 15.4 overs with nine wickets in hand.
They’ve finally clicked as a unit, with contributions spread across the board. The top order—Rickelton, Jacks, and Rohit—still have their shaky moments, but are putting up enough runs up front. Rohit’s 76* off 45 against CSK was a much-needed return to form, and it sets a good tone going forward.
The middle and lower-middle order have been where the real push is coming from. Suryakumar Yadav has been in prime touch—333 runs in eight matches at 55.50 and a strike rate of 162.43. He looked effortless in his last outing, smashing 68* off 30, and will be confident heading into Hyderabad. Expect more of the same.
Tilak Varma’s been looking sharp too, with two fifties in his last three knocks. He’s another batter who can tilt the game.
Towards the back end, Hardik Pandya and Naman Dhir can cause damage if they get enough balls. Both are capable of clearing the ropes in quick time.
Pandya’s also been handy with the ball—he’s taken 11 wickets and has done a decent job containing runs with an economy of 8.90. Deepak Chahar has six wickets so far but tends to leak runs at the death.
Trent Boult continues to deliver early on and at the end. Bumrah’s return has clearly lifted their bowling. With Boult and Bumrah closing out innings, they’ve got real control. Santner has chipped in with tight spells through the middle and should get good grip on this surface.
Suryakumar Yadav lit up Mumbai with a breathtaking half century (68* runs in 30 balls) against CSK to their 4th win of the season. So far he has scored 333 runs in 8 matches and is 3rd on the orange cap race. In 4 of the 8 matches he has scored over 30 runs this season. He has been consistent right throughout the season and we back him to continue his good run of form and score over 30 runs against SRH.

The surface at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium is usually flat, but some of the strips used in IPL 2025 have played unevenly. Pitch number two, though, sticks to the usual Uppal script—it’s great for batting. Chances are the home team will go with that one. If they do, expect another high-scoring game. It’s a nightmare for bowlers with no movement or grip to work with. The ball sits up nicely, making it easy for batters to hit through the line. Add in the short boundaries, and we’re looking at a match full of boundaries and big hits.
Conditions in Hyderabad will be warm and humid, but there’s no rain in the forecast, so the match should go ahead without interruptions.

High TurnIf pitch number two is used for this game, expect runs galore as both teams will aim for at least 220+ totals. We've seen this surface twice already this season - the first time, Sunrisers Hyderabad hammered 286-6 while batting first and won by 44 runs. The second time around, they chased down 246 with 1.3 overs to spare. The challenge for SRH comes on slower pitches, where their batting unit tends to struggle badly as they're not built for those types of wickets.
We back the home team Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to win the coin toss in match 41 of Tata IPL 2025.
Three of the four games played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in IPL 2025 have been won by the chasing side clearly indicating that fielding first is the better option here.
This one's likely to be decided by which side can squeeze more out of their batters. Sunrisers Hyderabad have the most dangerous top order in the league on paper and will be itching to go big on a flat Uppal track. The problem? They’ve also thrown away strong positions this season with loose strokes and sudden collapses. But when they get it right—like they did in their last game—they can wreck any bowling unit in these batter-friendly conditions. Mumbai, though, have Bumrah and Boult in top form, and they won’t be easy to put away. Their bowling looks tight, and their batting is starting to click, too. With three wins in a row, MI's momentum gives them a slight edge. That said, if SRH’s top order gets going early, they can still turn it into their night. But Mumbai still feel like the smarter bet.
Mumbai Indians are our picks for the winners of this match.
