Batting first, Beth Mooney (91) guided Perth Scorchers to 189 runs for the loss of six wickets. The Sixers fell 61 runs short of the target to suffer their first loss after four wins in a row. SSW skipper Ellyse Perry took 2 wickets with the ball and then scored 40 runs in her team’s sixth loss of the season.

Adelaide Strikers Women won their last game against the Sydney Thunder Women by 6 wickets. Bowling first, ASW restricted Thunder Women to 118 for the loss of 6 wickets. Megan Schutt and Anesu Mushangwe took two wickets each for Strikers. Laura Wolvaardt (47) and Bridget Patterson (36*) guided strikers to their seventh win of the season with 13 balls to spare.

Both teams played against each other at WACA this season where Strikers Women came up with a 5 wickets win over Sixers Women. Opener Katie Mack scored a half-century after ASW restricted Sixers to 111 for the loss of 6 wickets in the first innings. This was Strikers' third consecutive win over the Sydney Sixers Women. 

Adelaide Strikers are currently sitting in second place on the points table with 14 points in 10 games and need just one win to secure the knockout place. On the other hand, Sydney Sixers Women are in fifth place with 10 points and need at least two wins to keep the knockout dreams alive.

The defeat in the last game against Scorchers Women has derailed Sydney Sixers' hopes to finish in the top four. Here onwards every game is a kind of a final for Ellyse Perry’s side. She will open the innings with Maitlyn Brown. Perry is the leading run-scorer for the Sixers with 357 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 131.73. Perry has also taken 8 wickets in the last five games including a five-fer. The Sixers have failed to find a partner for Ellyse Perry this season to open. Brown who replaced Suzie Bates after the latter’s poor performance has scored just 157 runs in 11 innings.

Thankfully, Ashleigh Gardner is performing well for the Sixers at number three. The all-rounder has 224 runs in 11 innings with the bat and is currently their second leading wicket-taker with 17 wickets at an economy of 7.57. The Sixers should promote Chloe Tryon over Erin Burns at number four. Tryon has 238 runs with the bat at a strike rate of 130 and has taken 9 wickets so far. It is high time for Suzie Bates to perform as she has scored just 124 runs at a strike rate of less than 100 so far.

Lauren Cheatle will be the bowler to look out for. Cheatle is the leading wicket-taker of Sydney Sixers with 19 wickets at an average of 15.31. She also shares the same feat in this season overall with three other bowlers. Except for Cheatle and Gardner, no other bowler has taken 10 or more wickets for Sydney Sixers Women this season. Lynsey Smith comes close with 9 wickets and has the best economy amongst the Sixers bowlers (6.17).

Strikers got their plans back on track after a thumping win over Sydney Thunder Women. Katie Mack and Laura Wolvaardt will open the innings for the Strikers. Mack is currently in the top five run scorers of the season with 356 runs at a strike rate of 124.47 with three half-centuries. She in fact had scored a half-century in the Strikers’ five-wicket win over SSW this season.

Strikers' top-order batters have been terrific this season. Wolvaardt has 204 runs with the bat at number two. While skipper Tahlia McGrath has 118 runs at number three and has taken 6 wickets with an economy of 6.37. Bridget Patterson is playing the role of an anchor at number four. Patterson has scored 236 runs with the bat. The addition of Madeline Penna in the later stage of the tournament has worked well in favor of the Strikers Women. Penna has remained not out on 4 occasions in her 6 innings scoring at an average of 65.

Megan Schutt will be the bowler to watch out for. Schutt has 16 wickets this season at an economy of 6.72. She will team up with Amanda Wellington who has 14 wickets at the lowest economy amongst the Strikers (5.93). Anesu Mushangwe also has 11 wickets for the strikers.
