Sussex are currently in second place in the South Group, while Glamorgan are struggling in seventh place. Interestingly, the last time these two sides met this season, Glamorgan ed a 25-run win. Sussex have had a great season so far, winning six and losing only two matches. They have 12 points and a NRR of 1.614. But with six matches still left in the group stage, they cannot afford to slip up.
All eyes will be on Daniel Hughes in this match, the team’s leading run-getter this season. The opener has scored 280 runs in 8 innings at an average of 35 and a strike rate of 174.
James Coles, too, should be someone you should watch out for. The middle-order batter has racked up 225 runs in 8 innings at a strike rate of 153.
Then there is Tom Alsop (162 runs in 7 innings at 148), who can be really valuable down the order.
Among the bowlers, Sussex will count on their wreckers-in-chief, Tymal Mills (15 wickets in 8 innings at an economy of 7.43) and Nathan McAndrew (12 wickets in 8 innings at 8.86), to get the job done.

Glamorgan have been struggling this season. Only two wins from eight games has put them in a precarious position with just 5 points. They need a rapid turnaround in the second half of the tournament to entertain hopes of making it to the top two.
Their batting has almost entirely revolved around Sam Northeast (216 runs in 7 innings at an average of 43 and a strike rate of 130) and Colin Ingram (188 in 7 innings at an average of 27 and a strike rate of 136).
The likes of Kiran Carlson and Chris Cooke really need to step up now.
As for the bowling, the onus will be on Mason Crane (12 wickets in 6 innings at an economy of 7.39) and Daniel Douthwaite (10 wickets in 7 innings at 9.58) to chip in with regular breakthroughs. Because the rest of the bowling lineup doesn’t look threatening enough and hasn’t delivered this season.

The pitch at the County Ground in Hove has been great for batters. The ball has been coming nicely to the bat, particularly during the first six overs. Since it’s a small ground, hitting boundaries isn’t a problem once batters get going. The pitch does tend to slow down a little by the second innings, making batting a little difficult.
The weather in Hove during the day of the match will be cloudy, which can help the new ball bowlers get some movement off the air. An afternoon shower is expected in spots, but it shouldn’t affect the game much.

The average score batting first at the County Ground in Hove is 171. The teams batting first at the venue this season have posted scores of 201-7 (Sussex against Kent) and 184-8 (Surrey against Sussex). Both times, the team batting first won the game comfortably.
Both matches in Hove in this year’s T20 Blast have been won by the team batting first. We reckon this will give the captain a clear idea that batting first is the way to go on this venue currently.
While Glamorgan will be taking confidence from the fact that they beat Sussex earlier this season, they have a lot to worry about. Their bowling hasn’t really clicked, and their batting unit is dependent on a couple of players. Of course, in T20, only two players can change the game on their own. However, that won’t work every time. Sussex appears to be the more balanced of the two sides, and we reckon they are favorites for this game.
Back Sussex as the winners of this clash.
