As the race to the playoffs gets tighter, the number 5 and 6 teams go head to head in a crucial game at the North Sydney Oval in Sydney. Sixers feature some of the best T20 cricketers in the squad including Aussie superstars like Elysse Perry and Alyssa Healey.
And yet they struggled to chase down 159 in the last game and were bowled out for just 140 runs. For Brisbane Heat, Jemimah Rodrigues played a big role in helping them bounce back after suffering 3 losses in a row.
She played a brilliant 61-run knock at number 3 to help Brisbane to a 175-run total. What looked like a more than enough total to defend at The Gabba, turned out to be just enough as the Heat secured a narrow 8-run victory.
Sydney Sixers are back at the North Sydney Oval where they played their second match of the season against Adelaide Strikers. They lost while chasing 172 runs as Ellysse Perry and Sarah Bryce scored a fifty each.
Can the Sixers turn things around after their recent defeat? They’ve got a strong overall squad and should be able to pose a tough challenge to the Heat who’ve recently tasted success.

Skipper Ellysse Perry leads a very strong overall squad that hasn’t lived up to expectations. They’ve got some solid all-rounders in the side that add great variety to the bowling attack.
The left-arm orthodox bowler from England, Sophie Ecclestone will be a key bowler in this match. She failed to deliver breakthroughs in the last outing and was quite expensive as well.
But the Sixers still managed to restrict the opposition to just 158 runs. In her previous outings, Ecclestone bagged 3 for 18 and 2 for 22. Other key wicket-takers in the side include Amelia Kerr and Ashleigh Gardner.
Kerr and Perry were brilliant with the bat against MLS leading the Sixers to a 9-wicket win. In the next game, they failed to convert their starts while Gardner scored 49 off 36 and was the only batter to deliver an impactful performance.
There are many decent batting options in this side. Alyssa Healey, Sarah Bryce, and Hollie Armitage add a lot of strength and depth to this batting order. The opposition hasn’t been very impressive with the ball and Perry should back her batters to put Heat under pressure.
Ellyse Perry has been in exceptional form this season, amassing 315 runs in just 6 matches at an impressive average of 78.75. With five scores of 30 or more, she has consistently delivered for her team. Given her current hot streak, we anticipate Perry to continue her dominant performance and score over 28.5 runs in the match.

Brisbane Heat finally put an end to their losing streak after 3 consecutive losses. In their previous outings, it was the batting that suffered leading to their defeat. But it is not the only concern for the Brisbane skipper to address coming into this match.
The bowlers have conceded 167 and 170 in their last two innings and failed to pick up more than 5 wickets. Heat need a much stronger bowling performance in this game as they go up against some of the stronger T20 batters.
Jess Jonassen will be leading the bowling attack for Brisbane Heat. She holds the key to a dominating bowling performance. The experienced Shikha Pandey from India is a key pacer to watch out for.
Except for the recent game, she has been quite economical and managed to find breakthroughs. Nicola Hancock is another key wicket-taker who’s got the potential to deliver consistent wickets for the side.
However, overall, this bowling attack comes across as underwhelming. BRH Women will be relying on their batters to give them an upper hand in this contest. A lot depends on the likes of Grace Harris and Georgia Redmayne at the top.
Rodrigues looks in fine touch after her recent knock and will be ed by skipper Jonassen in the middle order. Laura Harris and all-rounders Charli Knott and Nadine de Klaark are all capable of scoring quick runs in the lower order.
It is a deep batting lineup and features batters capable of delivering a big total.
The right handed batter has scores of 61, 5, 13 & 45 in her last four WBBL matches, she has been either scored runs at a fast pace or perished. The game against Sixers is key for the Heat and given Rodrigues recent form, we back her to score over 21.5 runs.

It will be partly cloudy in Sydney with a high of 19 degrees Celsius. There should be no rain as far as the weather forecast goes and we should have a complete T20 game between the Sixers and Heat.
It is a good wicket for batting and has plenty of help on offer for batters in both innings. Though teams batting first have the upper hand here, the games have been quite closely fought with the chasing team coming in close distance of the target more than often. The average 1st innings score in the last 10 T20s is 162 runs. We reckon a 175+ total at this venue can be a match-winning score in this match.
The Sydney Sixers are averaging 16.7 fours per game this season while the Brisbane Heat is averaging 18 fours per game. These are amongst the top teams in scoring most of their runs in boundaries and the surface at the North Sydney Oval favours the batters, with a fast outfield.
Teams batting first have won 7 of the last 10 T20s played at this venue in Sydney. It seems like a good venue for batting and both teams should be keen on making the most of these conditions and back their batters to put the team on top of the game.
Both teams have some strong batters in their squads and a deep lineup. Heat have plenty of all-rounders adding depth to their batting order. However, the Sixers have a stronger bowling attack that has been more promising recently. Sydney Sixers will have a slight edge in our match prediction and start as our favorites to win.
