An unexpectedly poor batting performance against Western Province in the first match at the Centurion Park this season led to the Titans suffering a heavy defeat. The result has left the team second in the standings after being overtaken by North West. It is a big blow for the Titans, who had picked up victories from the first two games to lead the early stages of the CSA T20 Challenge 2024.
The game never really took off for the Titans with Lhuan-dre Pretorius emerging as the only saving grace in the top order after managing 23 runs from his 16 balls. After a middle-order collapse, Donovan Ferreira (the club’s top scorer of the season with 147 runs) was able to steady the lineup to a certain extent with the defendants from his 27 balls.
