UP Nawabs Preview

Any short format team who has Phil Salt in their side has a big advantage and that is the position that Team Abu Dhabi find themselves in for this tournament. The English-born, Barbados raised, England international, enjoyed a fine tour of the Caribbean earlier this month and carried his strong form from those two white ball series into this in Abu Dhabi.

Alongside Salt, who hit 53 not out from 19 balls against Ajman Bolts, former England all-format batter Jonny Bairstow got his tournament off to a flying start with 22 not out from 14 balls.

With the ball, Mark Adair, Zeeshan Naseer and Kadeem Alleyne all come into this fixture after picking up two wickets in their win in Match 1.

UP Nawabs certainly tick the box when it comes to experience in their side and although this will be their first game in the tournament, we are expecting them to come out with an attacking showing on Friday.

At the top of the order, UP Nawabs will be looking to the now internationally retired Dawid Malan and young Afghan keeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz to get the side off to the best start. However, if they fail, there are plenty of batting options down the order.

With the ball, the English duo of spinner Adil Rashid and left-arm pacer Tymal Mills are likely to cause the most problems and don't be surprised if Rashid really takes the pace off his deliveries.
