West Indies beat England by 4 wickets
England’s T20 returns in the last two series have been no good. They lost 0-3 to Bangladesh away from home in March and let New Zealand come from behind to square off the series 2-2 at home.
West Indies, by contrast, have won two hard-fought series: 2-1 on a tour to South Africa in March and 3-2 against India when they came touring. On current form, West Indies look dangerous and deadly, but England will come charging in to stamp their T20 class.
Our prediction is for West Indies to win this contest.

Buoyed by the recent success over England in a different format, Team West Indies will shift their attention to a much more stern challenge. Facing the current T20 world champions in their own backyard.
The Englishmen didn’t play like world champions and lost their title in a shambolic display at the marquee tournament, and they’ll be hoping they don’t endure a similar fate in the shorter format in the lead up to the T20 world cup next June. This is not just another bilateral series for both the teams. It will be a mini audition for the world cup and both the teams will be wanting to get attuned to the conditions and figure out who their best XI will be.
West Indies in particular have put together a really strong squad for this series, while England take the same core group of players from last year’s T20 final vs Pakistan in Melbourne into this contest, with senior Ben Stokes and Chris Jordan missing out.

West Indies are co-hosting the T20 world cup next year and there’s no way they cannot not qualify for it.
With their place guaranteed, their focus in on putting together a team of capable players that has the best chance of winning the tournament in front of home fans.
With two-time world cup winning captain Darren Sammy calling the shots as coach, their team is definitely in good hands. They’ve packed their squad with T20 stars and globetrotters, including Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell, Kyle Mayers, and Romario Shepherd. Andre Russell is also returning to the fold after a two-year hiatus for possibly his last shot at an international tournament in West Indian colours.
Their audition begins with this five-match series at England, the current World Cup champions. Team England’s form may be a little indifferent, but it’s a great chance for West Indies players to test their skills against a team which has played a different brand of T20 cricket for years now.
Having gotten over the line against England in longer format, the men in maroon will carry that confidence into playing T20s, a format their current crop of West Indies players have made their own after tasting a lot of success at domestic and international level.

Team England can heave a big sigh of relief ; they’re not going to be playing another ODI until next September.
For them, a change in format was the need of the hour, and they’d be hoping a T20 series in West Indies would bring the much-needed respite from months of disappointing results in the 50-over game.
A genuine opportunity to test your T20 skills against some of the best individual T20 players going around at different venues around the Caribbean where they’ll be defending their title in the next world cup. England can’t ask for much.
Jos Buttler will be hoping moving up top will finally help him regain form, and even if he doesn’t get out of the blocks fast enough, Will Jacks and Phil Salt can buy him some time before he goes ballistic.
The middle order looks lethal with Moeen Ali, Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone all set to carry the momentum they gain in the powerplay through to middle overs. Lower order batting comprises of Chris Woakes, Sam Curran who can whack a few long balls and keep the scoreboard ticking if required. Adil Rashid will take over the spin bowling mantle from prodigy Rehan Ahmed.
Reece Topley is back after another injury layoff and available to start for the first game alongside Tymal Mills and Josh Tongue.

These two teams played in the same ground 5 times last year, where the groundsmen dished up a variety of surfaces, with some proving to be a belter (428 runs aggregate) and some not so much (aggregate 207). The forecast is for a moderately windy and humid evening with the likelihood for an odd shower.

With the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados hosting the last game of the ODI series, which also happened to be a decider, it’s all set to get ready for this opening game of the 5 match T20 series.
16 of the 22 games held here so far have been won by teams batting first, so the team that wins the coin flip will most likely opt to send the opposition in.
West Indies are on a bit of a roll. They won a series on their tour to SA early this year and didn’t give India the same joy when they came visiting a few months ago. After a T10 bash at Abu Dhabi, some key men in the West Indies ranks are primed and ready to have a go at current world champions England, who’re nowhere near their best at the moment.
Our prediction is for West Indies to win this contest.
