Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) take on Punjab Kings (PK) in the 13th match of IPL 2025 in Lucknow. LSG recovered well from a disappointing start, securing a solid victory in their second outing. Punjab Kings, on the other hand, made a strong statement with a dominant performance in their opening game, proving they’re a team to watch this season. With both sides eager to build momentum, this contest is shaping up to be a high-intensity clash.

After a heartbreaking 1-wicket loss to Delhi Capitals in their opening game, Lucknow Super Giants made a strong comeback by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad on their home turf. They restricted the Sunrisers to a modest 190-9 and chased it down in just 16.1 overs.
Nicholas Pooran was the standout performer, hammering 70 off just 26 balls and putting the game beyond Hyderabad’s reach within the first 10 overs. He has been in red-hot form for LSG, with his last five scores reading 48*(26), 61 (27), 75 (29), 75 (30), and 70 (26).
Mitchell Marsh is another key player to keep an eye on. He smashed 52 off 31 in the last match, setting the foundation for the chase. If LSG wants to keep the momentum going, both Pooran and Marsh need to fire.
Rishabh Pant and David Miller haven’t made a huge mark yet, but they’ve spent enough time at the crease to suggest a big knock might be coming soon.
Lucknow’s bowling unit was impressive in their last outing. Shardul Thakur has been a game-changer, already picking up six wickets in two games. Young pacer Prince Yadav held his own, conceding just 29 runs in four overs while picking up a wicket. Ravi Bishnoi remains a potent threat in the middle overs and can change the course of a match in no time.
Pant is struggling to get his timing right and hasn't hit a single boundary this season. In two matches he has scored 15 runs. Given his current form, we predict Pant to have another tough outing and predict him to hit under 2.5 4's.
Pooran has smashed 13 sixes in two matches, averaging 6.5 sixes per match this season. His ability to hit maximums to both fast and spin bowlers makes him one of the best T20 batters. Given his current form, we back the southpaw to deposit more than one six into the stands against the Punjab Kings.
With 141 runs, Nicholas Pooran is the leading run-scorer in the tournament. He is in fine form and has scored back to back half centuires. Batting at no 3, Pooran will look to dominate and take down the spinners in the middle overs. At Lucknow, Pooran has scored 217 runs in 14 matches and against Punjab Kings in 5 matches he has scored 127 runs. Most of these came while batting down the order.

Punjab Kings have only played one game so far but made a strong statement in that outing. They took down Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, putting up a massive 243-5 and keeping the hosts to 232-5 in a high-scoring contest.
Shreyas Iyer made an immediate impact for his new team, hammering an unbeaten 97 off just 42 balls. Priyansh Arya (47 off 23) and Shashank Singh (44* off 16) also made valuable contributions with the bat.
Punjab's batting lineup looks dangerous this season. With Shreyas at number three and the firepower of Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell in the middle order, they have a unit that can take apart any bowling attack. Shashank Singh, who played a quickfire knock in the opener, adds even more depth as a finisher. His ability to go hard from the start makes him a game-changer for Punjab.
With the ball, Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen will be expected to strike early. The slower track at Ekana should also suit Yuzvendra Chahal, who will be tough to handle in these conditions. Maxwell’s off-spin could play a role in the middle overs as well.
Iyer is in sublime form at the moment, he smashed 5 fours in his last innings against the Gujarat Titans. In the 4 matches, Iyer has played against LSG, he is averaging 3.5 4's per game. We believe, Iyer will come out all guns blazing and continue his good run of form against the SuperGaints.
Arshdeep Singh bagged two wickets against the Gujarat Titans and was mighty effective in the powerplay and death overs. He is a genuine wicket taker and has picked up 13 wickets in the last 10 T20 matches. As he bowls in the death overs, the left arm fast bowler has the best chances of taking wickets.
Iyer made his mark as the captain of Punjab Kings with a scintillating half century (97* runs) against the Gujarat Titans. He is in no mood of letting his good run of form in vain and has pounced of every opportunity that he has got. Against LSG, Iyer has scored 117 runs in 4 matches, averaging 29.25.

The pitch at the Ekana Cricket Stadium won’t be an outright belter but it would be good for batting like most Indian surfaces. However, Ekana does tend to slow down in the middle overs, which brings the spinners into the mix. If dew sets in, however, spinners might struggle to grip the ball and go for runs.
The weather in Lucknow will be warm and humid, but since there is no sign of rain, we will have a full match.

Average TurnThe average first innings score at the Ekana Cricket Stadium is 166. Last season, the highest score posted at the venue was Kolkata Knight Riders’ 235-6 versus Lucknow Super Giants, a game they won by 98 runs. That, incidentally, was the only 200+ score achieved at Ekana in IPL 2024 across 14 innings.
The last time LSG and PBKS squared off at Lucknow, the total six tally was 20. Both teams boast a power packed batting lineup with six hitters in their ranks.
We back the home team Lucknow SuperGiants to win the coin toss in the 13th match of TATA IPL 2025.
The average total match score in the 13 IPL matches played at Lucknow is 321. Compared to the 2023 season, the surface at Lucknow was much better for batting last season. Expect a balanced track for today's game and a score around 180-200 will be idealfor that team that bats first considering fthe batting lineups of both the teams.
Chasing might be the better option at the Ekana Cricket Stadium as batting becomes easier in the second innings when dew sets in. In IPL 2024, four of the seven games played at this venue were won by the chasing side.
Both Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings look like serious contenders this season. Lucknow have managed to perform well despite losing two of their pace options to injury, thanks to their top-order batters who have been in red-hot form. Punjab have approached their games with a fearless mindset and have the batting depth to sustain that approach. Their bowling has also held up well so far. This match is a tough one to call, but on paper, Punjab appear to have a slight edge based on their overall balance. We’d put the odds at 55-45 in Punjab’s favor.
Back Punjab Kings as the winners of this game.
