Bangladesh faces an uphill challenge in the 1st Super Four game in the Asia Cup 2023, where they face hosts Pakistan. Pakistan has been the best side in the league stage, and they dominated both their games and were unlucky to have shared points with India in the last rain-affected game. Bangladesh comes into this game with a big win against Afghanistan, which will make them confident.

Bangladesh has never defeated Pakistan on Pakistani soil, which is a big worry for the side. Their batting line-up has struggled with consistency, and they must overcome this to win this game. Pakistan is in good form, and they will have the crowds behind them in this game. It will be interesting to see if Bangladesh can turn the tables and win their first-ever game against Pakistan in Pakistan.

Pakistan Preview

Babar Azam's side has been clinical in both its league games. They defeated Nepal by a big margin and put up a good fight against India, only to share points with the archrivals after rain halted play. They have a good record against Bangladesh, and playing at home, Azam would like a clinical show from his players.

Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq missed out in the only game they played, and the pair will look to deliver a good start. The middle order has done well, and the side will expect runs from Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Agha Salman. Iftikhar Ahmed played brilliantly against Nepal, adding firepower to the batting line-up with Shadab Khan and Shaheen Afridi.

They have a strong pace attack, and Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah are in good form. The pair will look for early breakthroughs with the new ball. Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf have done well in the tournament and will look to keep a check on the scoring rate in the middle overs. Mohammad Nawaz and Salman complete a strong attack for the side.

Pakistan Predicted Playing XI:

Babar Azam (c), Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Agha Salman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf

Pakistan Actual Playing XI:

Bangladesh Preview

Shakib al Hasan's side put up a good show against Afghanistan to win the game by 89 runs. It was after the side had started the tournament with a big loss against Sri Lanka. The side will face a tough challenge in this contest as they take on the hosts. Shakib would like a spirited performance from his players.

Litton Das will return to the side and look to deliver a good start in this game along with Mohammad Naim. Mehidy Hasan Miraz was brilliant in the last game, and he would look to add runs in the middle order with Towhid Hridoy and Najmul Hossain Shanto. Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib, and Afif Hossain add solidity to this batting line-up in the lower middle order.

The bowling attack faces a tough task in this game, and they will need a good start with the new ball from Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam. Mustafizur Rahman and Shakib have a lot of experience, and they will look to put pressure on the Pakistanis. The side would also like a good show from Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Afif Hossain.

Bangladesh Predicted Playing XI:

Shakib Al Hasan (c), Mohammad Naim, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy, Litton Das, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Afif Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman

Weather Conditions

The skies would be clear over Lahore. The pitch will be a good one to bat on, as we have seen in recent matches. The ball will come onto the bat nicely, allowing batsmen to play their strokes freely. The side that bats first will be eyeing to make 300-plus runs on this surface.

Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, is a great ground for the batters to hit through the line. High-scoring games have been the norm at this venue. Fast bowlers have little to be happy with on this surface and depend on their skills to earn rewards. Spinners do well here as the ball bounces and grips the surface.

Toss: To Bat

The wicket would be a good one to bat on in the afternoon as the ball won't do much on this dry surface. Batting would become difficult as the game progresses, and spinners use the slowing pitch to good effect. The side that wins the toss will opt to bat first.

Bangladesh has a strong bowling attack, but their batsmen have struggled with consistency in the last six months. The top order must deliver the goods for the side to defeat the confident Pakistani side. The hosts are in good form and enjoying a great run in ODIs. They have a strong bowling attack, which will put them ahead of the Bangladeshis in this game.
