Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets
Will SRH’s newfound aggression serve them well against men in Yellow? Will CSK continue to boss SRH?
We are backing Chennai Super Kings as winners of this contest.

At the outset, this looks like a colossal mismatch- Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.
Historically, CSK have thoroughly dominated SRH, winning 15 of the 20 encounters over the years. To put things in a cricketing perspective, that’s total dominance.
But SRH will be determined to the change that poor record. They’ve got a fresh and exciting group of players, and their approach to playing a much more aggressive brand of cricket is great to watch. Sure it hasn’t given them landslide victories yet, but propelled them to the highest total made by any team IPL.- 277/5 against MI.
On the other hand, CSK, going through a restructure with a new captain at the helm, held its fort twice at Chepauk but suffered an upset defeat in the hands of Delhi Capitals.
The tournament has just begun and there’s a long way to go, but this SRH vs CSK clash is not going to be the same old CSK dominating SRH types. That’s for sure.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have a few core players like Head, Abhishek and Klaasen that have been intimidating oppositions with their explosive batting. Their very presence in the middle gives opposition bowlers jitters, and the rest of the players in the team are able to play with confidence having them around. Klaasen, the lynchpin, with 167 runs from 3 innings with a high score of 80, is scoring his runs at a vicious 220, and has picked up more sixes than fours- a clear sign that he’s found his stride in the tournament so quickly.
Abhishek Sharma (124 runs from 3 innings) and Travis Head (81 runs from 2 games) are averaging over 40 with the bat and striking at a minimum of 200. Back to a venue where they raised the highest ever total by a team in an innings, SRH will look to their batsmen to take them to a strong position from which they will be able to dictate over CSK.
Bowling-wise, SRH look a little vulnerable though. Barring Pat Cummins, who has sent down 12 overs for 95 runs and picked up 4 wickets, no other bowler has impressed. Markande has bowled much better than his numbers (2 wickets from 3 games) show. They need to bowl a lot better as a group to stop CSK’s onslaught.
Sunrisers Hyderabad has been the second best six hitting team only behind the Kolkata Knight Riders. The men in orange are averaging 13 sixes per game. We back them to continue their onslaught against CSK and hit over 9.5 sixes.

Chennai Super Kings opened their IPL with two stunning victories at home over RCB in the first game and GT the next. They adapted to the new conditions on offer at the Chepauk stadium and made brilliant tactical changes to the side- including packing their bowling group with pacers and having just Ravindra Jadeja to play the lone spinner role.
Their crushing loss against DC in Vizag came as a reality check for them. And they’ll be looking to better their performance in an important away game against a team that they’ve dominated throughout. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra will be hoping to shake off their bad start against DC and get back in the groove. Shivam Dube (bat), and Deepak Chahar and Mustafizur Rahman (ball) couldn’t have much impact in that game against Capitals like they had in the earlier games.
But the others especially Ajinkya Rahane, MS Dhoni would have felt good with their performances in a losing cause. And similarly, Matheesha Pathirana and Tushar Deshpande would be coming into this match with their tail up- having bowled with control and discipline against DC to keep them under 200.
A rare failure from Rachin Ravindra in his last outing against Delhi Capitals. Other than the disappointing knock he has been good smashing bowlers with ease. The southpaw piled up 85 runs in three matches where on two occasions his total score has been over 30 runs.

The pitch and the conditions here favour batsmen more, allowing them to play with a free license. And that’s why it’s been one of the high-scoring venues in IPL. The weather forecast for the match is clear and we should witness a clash without rain interruption,

High TurnThe Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal Hyderabad will be hosting this fixture. The home team SRH lost 5 out their 5 games last season at this venue, but started this season off on the right note with an awe-inspiring win against MI last week.
The pitch at Rajiv Gandhi International stadium this season has favored the batsman. It was a run-feast the last time Sunrisers Hyderabad played at this venue, expect similar kind of surface for today's game and you can expect plenty of runs to be scored.
Both teams will be looking to win the toss and have a bat first, SRH more so. Given the carnage Head, Abhishek and Klaasen caused batting first against MI, SRH will be hoping to bat first and make the most of the conditions on offer.
SRH could blow any team away with their blistering batting, but we’re putting our money on CSK to come good this match, mainly for the balance they have in their squad with the bat and ball
