Adelaide Strikers beat Sydney Thunder by 9 wickets
Brimming with confidence on a three—game unbeaten streak, Adelaide Strikers need another win in their only remaining fixture to boost their chances of qualification to the knockout phase. They should have no difficulty beating the Thunder, who are on a very lean patch with 1 win to show from 8 matches this season.

Sydney Thunder, currently placed 7th on the ladder, are facing off against Adelaide Strikers, who are still in the running for a spot in the top 4 at the end of the group stage.
The Thunder’s campaign never took off this season, with their win against higher ranked Melbourne Stars the lone highlight of their woeful campaign. The Strikers, on the other hand, have worked up some momentum winning their last 3 encounters after four defeats on the trot. This match is no dead rubber, and the team from Adelaide has a lot to play for. With Melbourne Stars The home team, however, buoyed by the return of talisman David Warner will be hoping to restore some pride before they sign off.
With Melbourne Stars hot on their heels, who still have two more matches to play, Adelaide Strikers have their task cut out: pick up two points from this match and finish with 11 points. That’s the best they can do.

David Warner was flown into SCG on a helicopter, after attending his brother’s wedding at the Hunter valley, but it didn’t amount to much, as the Thunder lost to crosstown rivals the Sixers in the Sydney smash.
With just one win in 9 matches, the Thunder’s season never took flight. But they’ll be hoping to bow out on a high with two wins in two dead rubbers and perhaps spoil the party for a few teams, especially the Strikers who cannot afford to lose their final match. The Thunder never looked like they were in the running for the top four spots since the beginning of their campaign. Except Daniel Sams and Cameron Bancroft, who’re leading their wickets and runs tally respectively, no one from the Thunder outfit made a mark this season.
As a team, they never looked like they were here to compete either. Call it lack of motivation or whatever you want, they don’t seem to how to put together a complete game of cricket, and are still losing matches from winning positions, too. They shaved 44 off their target (152 runs) in the first four overs of powerplay, but still came up short and ended up losing by a 20-run margin, which in T20 is huge.

A 32-ball 80 from southpaw Jake Weatherald in Hobart helped the Strikers jump into fourth position on the table. The Strikers were dealt a huge blow when hard-hitting Chris Lynn picked up a hamstring injury that ended his tournament all of a sudden.
But replacement player came out swinging and made a statement with arguably the best knock of BBL13 in which he belted nine fours and five sixes. The Strikers needed every one of that, to help themselves to a win while boosting their net run rate.
With Melbourne Stars in striking distance ( 8 points from 8 matches with two games in hand), Strikers’ chances of progressing through to finals is out of their hand. However, they’ll be hoping to end their final game of the tournament with a win against the Thunder, and that the Stars fumble along the way in one of their remaining fixtures against Melbourne Renegades and Hobart Hurricanes. The two Shorts are as reliable as they can ever be as a batting pair up top, and have been making some key contributions with the bat especially during the power play.
Their bowlers have clearly got their act together, picking up opposition wickets at crucial junctures and restricting them to par or slightly above par scores that their own batters can chase down.

The pitch here is generally good for batting, but teams have found scores over 200 hard to chase down here. Some shower is forecast for the day, but with winds expected to pick up in the evening, the rain will hopefully stay away.
The match will be played at the Manuka Oval in Canberra. Of the 18 matches the home team has played here so far, they’ve won 10 and lost 7. The match that ended up being abandoned due to bushfire smoke in BBL’19 featured the Strikers.
Sydney Thunder’s weakness chasing has been exposed this season, so they’re more likely to win toss and bat first to make use of the conditions and put the Strikers on the back foot right from ball one.
Adelaide Strikers are on form and have managed to string a few wins together, and we reckon the Strikers will get the better of the Thunder in this contest.
We are backing Adelaide Strikers as the winners of this contest.
