The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup's Group A has given fans some breathtaking results. With India Women losing against New Zealand, the second position is up for grabs for all teams. But the first position is almost fixed for the current champions, Australia Women. They will face Pakistan Women at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai, on 12th October from 7:30 pm onwards.
After thrashing Sri Lanka Women in the first game, the champions humbled New Zealand by 60 runs in the second game. Batting first, Aussie Women scored 148 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Beth Mooney scored 40 off 32 at the top. As soon as Megan Schutt broke the partnership between Suzie Bates and Amelia Kerr, her bowling partners accelerated the efforts to bowl out New Zealand Women to 88. Schutt and Anabel Sutherland took three wickets each.
Pakistan Women should have capitalized on their winning at the start of the tournament in the second game. But they failed. They played against their arch-rivals India in the second and managed to score 105 for the loss of 8 wickets. Nida Dar was the only batter to get past the 20-run mark. Skipper Fatima Sana then took two wickets but couldn’t stop the Harmanpreet storm from losing the game by 6 wickets.
Both teams played against each other last January, and Australia emerged victorious by 8 wickets. Beth Mooney scored 46 off 29 balls while opening with Meg Lanning (31) in that game.
