Lions are making a strong case for the defence of the title after moving up to the third position after having played four matches. The victory over the Knights was achieved in comfortable fashion after a 47-run success. The victory has helped the team keep in touch with North West and the Titans at the top. A game against Boland for the Lions, who have managed consecutive successes over this opponent, could be a perfect solution for the Lions to make it four wins in a row.

Boland are still awaiting the first success of the season following a big loss to the Titans in the latest match. The result comes just days after the close defeat against table leaders North West. The story have left the team in a very poor state after having made a relatively decent start to the season. Boland are still stuck on six points as a result.
There are very few positives for Boland in the last game. The mediocre performance from Grant Roelofsen, who managed 26 from 20 balls, was able to hand the team a half-start that never materialised. Ayabulela Gqamane came up with another 26 runs lower down the order. These were the two players to enter into double figures in the game against the Titans. Roelofsen continues to strengthen his position as the top scorer in the squad after moving up to 140 runs from three innings.
Ferisco Adams was able to pick up two early wickets, but none of the team was able to add to this decent start. These were the first wickets of the season for Adams.

The Lions are making rapid progress in of climbing up the league table. The team are now third in the standings with only three points separating them from the top. Crucially, the Lions have more momentum than the rest of the teams. It will be a hard campaign for the opposition with Lions incredibly motivated to defend the title.
This Lions team is not far away from securing a strong position in the runs table with no less than three players in the top 15. Evan Jones still leads the board for total runs scored from the Lions team despite only managing 10 from his game against the Knights. Wandile Makwetu moved to 3rd place after picking up 107 runs from his four games.
Much of the success for the Lions so far in the last few weeks has been attributed to Junaid Dawood, who has come up with a spectacular run of 10 wickets in the last four innings at an average of 12.1. He comes on the back of a two-wicket haul against the Knights while Codi Yusuf and Evan Jones were among the wicket-takers with two apiece.
Joshua Richards, Wandile Makwetu, Zubayr Hamza, Mitchell Van Buuren (c), Connor Esterhuizen, Delano Potgieter, Evan Jones, Codi Yusuf, Lutho Sipamla, Tshepo Moreki, Junaid Dawood
Reeza Hendricks, Mitchell Van Buuren, Evan Jones, Zubayr Hamza, Delano Potgieter, Connor Esterhuizen, Bjorn Fortuin, Junaid Dawood, Nqaba Peter, Lutho Sipamla, Wandile Makwetu
The pitch has produced a score of 140+ in its only match of the season. Even if Boland are unable to contribute a sizeable chunk to the total score, the Lions are in perfect shape. Lions should be able to post a total of 150+ considering the favourable batting conditions. The weather in Paarl is expected to be mostly cloudy for the day with temperatures hovering around 26°C.
The Boland Park in Paarl gets ready to host only its second match of the season. Last season, there were two matches on the ground with Boland failing to win any of them. The average first innings score from these four games was 125.5 while the average second innings score was slightly higher.
Lions are aware about the very strong batting line-up in the squad. They have chosen to bat first in all of the last three games, which have all gone in their favour. Lions are likely to prefer to bat first while the only game at Boland Park saw the toss winner chose to bowl first.
Lions are in a remarkable shape coming into the game. After three consecutive victories, the team are gunning for another success against Boland that would take them to the top of the table. Still winless in the campaign, Boland are unlikely to offer much resistance to the visiting team in this game.
