India Women have been tested by the visitors in the T20I series so far. The hosts were on top throughout this tour winning the ODI series 3-0 and the Test by 10 wickets.
However, even after winning the toss in both T20Is, the hosts couldn’t get what they would have wanted. South Africa Women posted some very competitive totals on both occasions. The 2nd T20I was washed out after 1st innings.
The visitors have a real chance of winning the series. They have enjoyed the pitch conditions so far with their batters delivering pretty impactful knocks at all key positions.
However, this pitch has traditionally helped the spinners but in recent IPL editions was curated in such a way that we’d have high-scoring encounters. After two outings here, it needs to be seen whether the pitch continues to offer pace and bounce and slows down.

India need a strong comeback from their bowlers if they bowl first in this match as well. They’ve had a few good performances but their overall bowling effort has been quite underwhelming.
In the 1st T20I, they struggled to find a breakthrough after the fall of the 1st wicket in the 8th Over. While the hosts were better than that in the next match, finding regular breakthroughs, they continued to be expensive in the death overs.
Deepthi Sharma, Radha Yadav, and Pooja Vastrakar are the key bowlers in this squad to watch out for. These three will need to lead the wicket-taking efforts and ensure India are on top of the game.
India lost the opening match of the series by 12 runs while chasing 190 runs. Jemimah Rodrigues was very impressive at number 5 with her unbeaten knock of 53 off 30 balls.
This has been a good decision from the Indian management to send her down the order. However, the skipper needs to up the ante and improve her strike rate if India are to win the final match.
Her 35 off 29 balls kept India in the hunt but did nothing to ease the pressure. She’s an experienced batter who’s played many big knocks in the past. At the top, Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma hold the key to a good start.

South Africa Women are looking in great touch with consistent batting performances. Their lower order also came to the party in the last match as they delivered a big finish in the final over of the innings.
The openers Laura Wolvaardt and Tamzin Brits have taken an attacking approach to their batting. The skipper scored 22 off 12 in her last outing while Brits has scored 52 of 81 in the two matches so far.
Experienced and in-form batters in the top order make the Proteas very strong. In the middle order, they’ve got Marizanne Kapp and Anneke Bosch who haven’t missed a beat.
Add Chlore Tyron to the mix at number 4 or 5 and you’ve got a solid batting lineup that will deliver a big and competitive total. The only thing that can stop this side from scoring another 175+ total is a changed pitch.
If the hosts decide to go with a slower pitch that offers turn, South Africa might face some tough challenge and the scores may not be so high.
The batting lineup is quite deep with Nadine de Klerk coming in at number 6 followed by Annerie Deckersen who scored 12 off 3 balls in the last over.
Ayabonga Khaka, Chloe Tyron, and Nadine de Klerk are crucial with the ball. While they’ve got some new faces in this attack as well, none of the South African bowlers have looked threatening.

Though it has traditionally been a bowling-friendly wicket, in recent times it has helped the batters a great deal with some big totals being scored in the IPL. There are chances of showers on the match day in Chennai with a high of 32 degrees Celsius.

High TurnMA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai will be the venue for this match. It has been a great venue for T20 cricket where both batters and bowlers have found help from the pitch. The average 1st innings score here is 158 runs in T20Is. However, as we saw in recent matches, the team batting first needs to cross the 185-run mark to be on top of the game.
The decision to bat or bowl should depend on the pitch on the match day. If it continues to favor batters, we reckon India Women also should consider batting first. They’ve got a strong bowling attack capable of defending a total.
Though South Africa have looked strong so far, India has the knack of bouncing back and this Indian team ticks all the right boxes. They’ve got an overall strong team and if their bowlers find their rhythm, they can put South Africa on the back foot. We reckon this will be a neck-and-neck contest with India Women having a slight edge over the visitors and starting as favorites in our match prediction.
