Tuesday's IPL 2025 action brings us to Kolkata where the Knight Riders face off against the Lucknow Super Giants in match 21. After stumbling initially, KKR have bounced back impressively with a dominant victory against SRH on their home turf. This momentum should help them against an erratic LSG squad, who'll need to seriously lift their game if they hope to overcome the title holders in Kolkata.

After a shaky start to their season, Kolkata Knight Riders finally found their rhythm in the fourth game, hammering Sunrisers Hyderabad by 80 runs at home. They posted a strong 200-5 on a slightly sticky pitch, then skittled SRH for just 120 in reply.
Things didn’t start great—they lost two early wickets—but Rahane (38 off 27) and Raghuvanshi (50 off 32) steadied the innings with smart batting. Later, Venkatesh Iyer (60 off 29) and Rinku Singh (32* off 17) turned the heat up and pushed the total to a winning one.
The openers haven’t fired yet, but Rahane brings some calm at one-down. Raghuvanshi may be new, but he’s showing good temperament and looks like someone who can keep contributing solid runs. With Venkatesh and Rinku back among the runs, the batting unit suddenly feels a lot stronger.
Bowling-wise, they nailed it. Vaibhav Arora picked up 3 for 29 and put SRH under pressure early, while Varun Chakaravarthy grabbed three of his own to slam the brakes on the chase. Narine and Varun could again be the difference—they’re hard to get away on this slow pitch. Add in Russell and Harshit, who both know how to use the surface, and KKR look in good shape.
Raghuvanshi has scores of 50, 26, 22*, 30 this season, he has been consistent and reliable at number 4 for KKR this season. We back him to continue his good run of form and play another impactful cameo against LSG and score over 22 runs.
If you exclude the 97* run knock against RR, Quinton de Kock hasn't performed in the other three matches this season and so far has accumulated 103 runs in 4 matches. The pressure is on him to score runs consistently and his team needs all his experience at the top of the order. So today's might be the day, where we see a Quinton de Kock special against his former team LSG.
Rahane scored 38 runs in the last against SRH and looked in really good touch. In the two matches he has played at Eden Gardens this season, Rahane has scored 94 runs and in both innings his score was above 35. Given his current form, we back Rahane to score over 23 runs against LSG.

Lucknow Super Giants have had a bit of an up-and-down run so far in IPL 2025. They’ve won two games and lost two, most recently sneaking past Mumbai Indians by 12 runs. That result helped them climb to sixth in the table. Batting first, they posted a solid 203-8 and did just enough to keep Mumbai to 191-5.
Mitchell Marsh was the difference-maker, blasting a rapid 60 from just 31 balls. Aiden Markram finally got some runs under his belt too, finishing with 53 off 38.
Nicholas Pooran has been the most dependable batter for LSG over the last two seasons. He’s had good memories at Eden Gardens too—scoring 45 (32) and 58 (30) in his last two games there. Backing him to clear 30 runs this time wouldn’t be a stretch.
On the other hand, Rishabh Pant’s poor form continues to hurt LSG. With only 19 runs in four games, he’s put added pressure on the rest of the batting order. David Miller hasn’t offered much relief either, struggling for timing and form.
One bright spot has been the lower middle order. Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad have chipped in with a couple of useful cameos. Samad could be handy again, especially against KKR’s spinners.
With the ball, Shardul Thakur has picked up seven wickets in three matches, but he’s gone for runs too—conceding over 10 an over. Ravi Bishnoi’s numbers don’t look great either: three wickets, but his economy has ballooned to 12. Digvesh Singh Rathi, on the other hand, has made a solid impression—six wickets and a tidy economy of 7.62 in four games.
Pooran has smashed 16 sixes in four matches, averaging 4 sixes per match this season. His ability to hit maximums to both fast and spin bowlers makes him one of the best T20 batters. Given his current form, we back the southpaw to deposit more than one six into the stands against LSG.
Pooran had a rare failure in his last outing against Mumbai Indians, where he scored 12 runs. So far this season the left hander has amassed 201 runs in 4 matches and is the orange cap holder. At Eden Gardens in 2 matches, he has scored 103 runs, averaging 51.5.
Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh, Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Ayush Badoni, David Miller, Abdul Samad, Shardul Thakur, Digvesh Singh Rathi, Akash Deep, Avesh Khan Impact Player: Ravi Bishnoi

The pitch we saw in the previous game was a typical Eden pitch – a little on the slower side while being generally good for batting. Given that KKR won that match handsomely, we should expect another similar surface where the ball holds up a bit and batters will need to be patient to score the big hits. Spinners will dominate the proceedings, which makes the powerplay crucial as batters will have to maximize it.
The weather in Kolkata will be slightly cloudy but still humid at night. There is no rain forecast, so we will have a full game.

High TurnEden Gardens typically sees an average first-innings score of 167. In the two games played at the venue in IPL 2025, we have seen two contrasting pitches with the first innings scores being 174-8 and 200-5. If we get a slower pitch similar to the previous game, both teams will eye a total of around 180-190 to feel confident.
We back the home team Kolkata Knight Riders to win the coin toss in match 21 of TATA IPL 2025.
The average total match score in the last two matches played at Eden Gardens is 336. It has been a moderate scoring venue this season so far, but since the match between KKR and LSG is an afternoon game expect the surface to be dry and flat. We predict a high scoring game, given the form of both the batting lineups and the total match score to be over 379 runs.
Going by what we saw in the previous match, batting first and putting an above-par score is the safest option at the Eden.
Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Lucknow Super Giants both times the sides met in IPL 2024, and after cruising to an 80-run win at home last time, they’ll head into this one with momentum on their side. Lucknow’s batting leans heavily on Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran. If they don’t fire, things could fall apart quickly. With the Knight Riders confident and playing on familiar turf, the odds are definitely tilting in their favor.
Kolkata Knight Riders are our picks for the winners of this match.
