Not for New York Strikers or Delhi Bulls though with the Bulls taking the field for the fourth successive day and desperate to bounce back from their first defeat of the competition to Morrisville Samp Army on Sunday evening.

New York Strikers have had the weekend off but the rest days may have come at the worst possible time for Kieron Pollard's team who had just put together back to back wins following their opening match defeat to Deccan Gladiators. 

The teams have only met once before and it was New York Strikers who came out on top in that clash last December when they won by a 7 wicket margin but with only two balls remaining.

New York Strikers Preview

They may not have been in action since Friday, but New York Strikers will be pleased when they take a look at the table ahead of this game which shows them in fourth place, with at least one game in hand on the three teams above them and only two points from the summit. 

The opening partnership of Muhammad Waseem and Rahmanullah Gurbaz made 45 of the 89 runs required for New York Strikers in their win over Northern Warriors on Friday and the pair could well be critical to success or being competitive in this fixture. With plenty of all-rounders filling the middle and lower-order positions, Kusal Perera and captain Kieron Pollard have big roles to play batting at number three and four.

With Akeal Hosein and Sunil Narine in their line-up, New York Strikers have some strong spin options and the pace-off approach has tended to be the most successful across all teams in the tournament. Mohammad Amir will bowl with pace but needs to target the stumps as he has yet to take a wicket in the competition.

Any team across all sports can go on a long winning run but the sign of a great side is one who immediately bounces back from a rare defeat. And that is the task for Delhi Bulls in this game as they target a victory on Monday just over 24 hours after they lost their 100% record in this year's tournament.

There has been plenty of praise for the batting line up which includes Quinton de Kock, James Vince, Rilee Rossouw and Johnson Charles but it is the skipper Rovman Powell who has been making the most consistent contributions whilst maintaining a highly impressive strike-rate of over 265 across the entire competition.

It was a tough assignment for Delhi Bulls' bowlers against Morrisville Samp Army on Sunday with a target of only 96 to defend. Although they failed to win the match, positives will still be taken into this clash with Fazalhaq Farooqi's reliability in the wicket taking stakes particularly impressive.
