UAE and Scotland will go head-to-head for one last time in this series. UAE went from chasing down 148 runs with ease to losing the match by 9 runs in a chase of 122 runs. Whereas, Scotland’s batting has only deteriorated further.
It was the bowling performance that helped Scotland stay alive in the series. Jack Jarvis, Gavin Main, and Hamza Tahir were all crucial to their 9-run victory in the 2nd T20I.
As they gear up for the 3rd T20I, both teams will be looking to improve their batting performances. Dubai is known to be a great venue for batting, and the teams chasing here have always had the upper hand.
And it was apparent in the first match as UAE cruised to victory with 8 wickets in hand. However, the last match saw batters from both sides struggle to score runs.
There are some quality batters in both lineups. George Munsey and skipper Matthew Cross will be key players for Scotland while Muhammad Waseem holds the key to UAE’s batting success in the top order.

UAE’s middle order was exposed in the last match and except for Alishan Sharafu, no one managed to stay at the crease long enough to make an impact. Just like the visitors, UAE too features a relatively young and inexperienced side.
Opener Tanish Suri, Aryan Lakra at number 3, and Rahul Chopra at 5 are all quite new to the scene and have little experience. Suri scored 37 off 35 balls and was part of the 80-run stand alongside skipper Muhammad Waseem in the first T20I.
Sharufu has been consistent though his strike rate isn’t that impressive. He can be the anchor of this batting lineup and help build the innings with crucial partnerships after early losses.
He will need from the other end. Aryan Lakra and Rahul Chopra will be the ones for this job. If these two are out cheaply, the UAE can find themselves in all sorts of trouble.
It seems like a lot depends on Waseem and Sharufu in the batting department. There are all-rounders like Basil Hameed and Ayan Afzal Khan lower down the order but they won’t be able to make much of an impact if the top and middle-order have failed to deliver.
Nevertheless, UAE have been mighty impressive with the ball. Junaid Siddique picked 4 for 18 and 4 for 16 in the last two matches. Basil Hameed and Ayan Afzal Khan are the other key bowlers who’ve been impactful in this setup.
They will pose a tough challenge to the visitors’ batting lineup. And though they failed to chase a small total in the last game, we reckon Waseem would still be keen on bowling first.

Scotland have come to Dubai with many newcomers in their squad. George Munsey and skipper Matthew Cross are the only experienced players in this batting lineup.
Opening batsman Ollie Hairs, however, is a promising player. The 32-year-old has played 22 T20Is and has 1 hundred to his name. He’s scored 392 runs at a strike rate of 189.37.
Hairs can hit the long ball and is an ideal player to open the innings with Munsey. Brandon MucMullen at number 3 hasn’t played a lot of T20 internationals but also has a great strike rate of 143.62.
Richie Berrington, who was the captain in the 1st T20I, was out of the XI in the last match as Matthew Cross led the team. Charlie Tear came in for Berrington, making his T20I debut.
While the numbers may look promising, the performances from the top 4 of this batting lineup haven’t shown much promise. All-rounder Michael Leask can be a key player in the lower order.
Jack Jarvis is another all-rounder who’s played just 2 T20Is but has looked promising with both bat and ball. There is no one consistent in this batting lineup and that will be a big concern for Scotland.
Bradley Curie and Gavin Main are other key bowlers in this side to watch out for. James Dickinson, the right-arm leg-break bowler, made his debut in the last match and picked 1 for 23. He replaced Mark Watt, an experienced left-arm orthodox bowler.
We think Scotland should bring Berrington and Watt back in the side given that the series is on the line.

Traditionally, it is a batting pitch here in Dubai. It gets better in the night with the lights on. Though batters struggled to score runs in the last game, we reckon, the 3rd T20I will have a good pitch that offers pace and even bounce. However, spinners could also find some help from the surface.

Average TurnDubai International Cricket Stadium will be the venue for the 3rd T20I between UAE and Scotland. It is not a very high-scoring venue but 170 can be easily scored in the 1st innings. We reckon a match-winning total on this ground should be something over 180 runs. However, considering the current form of both teams, even 170 would be a highly competitive total in this match.
It has been a great venue for batting and teams chasing down a target have won the majority of the matches here. UAE opted to bowl first in both matches so far and we reckon both captains will be looking to do the same in the 3rd T20I too.
Things have become interesting after Scotland’s win in the last match. Both teams have a vulnerable batting lineup. There is no clear winner between the two sides but Scotland with their squad strength and overall experience will have a slight edge in our match prediction.
