Fresh off a thumping 6-wicket victory in the series opener, Bangladesh now set their sights on clinching the series. Sri Lanka are a bit shaken following the loss, and they need to quickly put it behind to come up with a strong response to stay alive in the series. Forcing the series into a decider is all they’ll be thinking about, and they’ll be a bit desperate to defeat the hosts and settle scores in the second ODI.
Each of these teams had their dull moments, but it was Bangladesh that seized all the big moments in the match and played good cricket without cracking under pressure. They showed better composure and had the resolve to fight fire with fire when the chips were down, and got the result they were after. Another firefighting display like this is what the hosts need to wrap up the series. But Sri Lanka will come with a point to prove and will be hoping to play better cricket throughout the match.

Bangladesh go into the second ODI with their tail up after a comfortable victory in the series opener. Even though the final score line might suggest otherwise, they did face some jitters early in both the innings.
When they bowled, SL openers came out attacking and raced to 70 odd runs inside the first ten overs. But Tanzim and Taskin did well to pick up 3 wickets inside 20 balls to leave Sri Lanka in a bit of bother at 84/3, pulling things back. This kind of undid the healthy stand put together by the openers, and pushed Sri Lanka into an innings building mode. In the end, the fiery pace trio, including Shoriful Islam, dismantled SL with 3 scalps each.
Similarly, chasing a below par 256 for victory, Bangladeshi batsmen were in trouble early on, with their top order gone inside 6 overs. Mahmudullah came to the middle with a clear ploy to attack and added crucial runs to the total before being dismissed for 37, but young captain Najmul Hossain Shanto kept on fighting and finished with a match-winning 122* which also happens to be his personal best yet. Mushfiqur Rahim dug into his experience to give Shanto the he needed from the other end.

SL won the toss and chose to bat first. They got off to a flying start, but before they could capitalize on it three quick wickets put them in trouble, making their decision to bat seem questionable. They lost a bunch of wickets early on, so their batsmen dug in to stop the bleeding. They managed to avoid another collapse, but their cautious batting slowed things way down.
Any time they tried to pick up the pace, they seemed to lose another wicket. Stuck between playing safe and scoring runs, they ended up with just 255, which was below par on a good batting strip.
Madushanka started brilliantly, dismissing Litton Das in his first over and Soumya Sarkar in the next. Pramod Madushan removed Hridoy cheaply, leaving Bangladesh reeling at 23/3. Just when it seemed like the match was tilting towards Sri Lanka, Shanto and Mahmudullah steadied the ship, adding 69 for the fourth wicket. Sri Lanka managed to break the partnership with Mahmudullah's dismissal, but Mushfiqur Rahim ed Shanto in the middle and the duo made sure their team didn't lose any more wickets. The dew rolled in, making it harder for SL bowlers to grip the ball and execute their skills properly. And the Bangladeshi batsmen capitalized on it.
The visitors need to improve upon their middle order batting and bowling in the middle overs to give themselves the best chance of taking the series into the third ODI.

The surface was good to bat on in the first match, but Sri Lanka couldn’t quite capitalize on the great start they got to finish with a big score. The strip is anticipated to behave the same for the next match, too. Weather-wise, there won’t be any interruption. But dew could play a part again and make things a lot easier for the chasing team.
The match will be played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. Sri Lanka have played two games here and won one. Bangladesh boast a strong recent record at this venue, winning 6 of their last 10 matches here.
SL won the toss and chose to bat in the first match, a decision which backfired on them. Bangladesh have chased reasonably well in the white ball leg of the series so far, winning two and coming dangerously close to winning one. SL might look to unsettle them a bit by opting to chase in this match.
Bangladesh showcased their ability to overcome initial setbacks with the ball and bat, ing a solid win in the first match. We’re hoping Bangladesh will back it up with another win in the second ODI.
We are backing Bangladesh as winners of this contest.
