With 6 points from 5 games, Delhi Bulls is in with a real chance to finish in the top four, but Northern Warriors campaign is drawing to a close.
They’re likely to bow out after the group stages; even a win over the Bulls can only take them to 6 points and that won’t be enough for a qualification considering 3 teams are already sitting pretty at 8 points with a match or two to still to be played. Northern Warriors can still play for pride look to finish the tournament on a positive note.
As for Delhi Bulls, they’ve got two shots left at trying to qualify into top 2 and they’ll be fairly positive that the small matter of where they finish the group stages is still pretty much in their hands.

After their thumping of Gladiators in their opening match, Delhi Bulls was looking good for a few successive wins.
They were too strong for teams like Braves and Bangla Tiger and were looking particularly dangerous with 3 wins in 3 matches.
Next, they faced off with Samp Army, who bowled exceedingly well to keep them to sub-100 and chased it down with 2 balls to spare. But then the Bulls came up against New York Strikers, and that was a match of two halves for the men representing the Delhi franchise. Their bowlers put the stranglehold on Strikers batsmen, restricting them to a below par score. Set 99 as target, their batsmen couldn’t back up a strong bowling performance and yielded to the pressure from Strikers.
Knowing Delhi Bulls, they’ll shake off this ignominy of being folded for 31 inside 10 overs and look to play their aggressive brand of cricket with a clear mind. They will have one eye at the points table for sure, but they’ll be more focused on turning their campaign around and make sure the drubbing in the last match was just an aberration.

Northern Warriors couldn’t have asked for a better start to their tournament. They held their nerve against Samp Army, steamrolled Team AD, and were looking good to string together a few wins. Their batsmen were in so-so form but produced the runs when it mattered, and their bowlers Abhimanyu Mithun and Angelo Matthews were amongst the wickets. Their form dipped and the Warriors looked a completely different side with their strike bowlers leaking runs and going wicketless in matches.
Strikers and Braves got home comfortably but it was a close shave for Bangla Tigers against the Warriors. Before Northern Warriors could pick themselves up from three straight losses, Gladiators came calling and handed them the biggest defeat of the tournament. It’s certainly been a tournament of ups and downs for Northern Warriors and they’ll be looking to bow out on a high.
They might make a few changes to the XI to give some players a crack at playing this high-pressure format, after all the chances of qualifying to the top four are now virtually gone. They’ve got nothing to lose and might give an opportunity to fresh players who’ve not had a taste of T10 at the biggest stage yet .

This late evening clash is likely to be played on a used pitch, which means run-making might not be that easier. That allows bowlers with a bunch of tricks to bring their team back into the contest. Temperatures are expected to be around 22 degree Celsius with rain expected to steer clear.

Delhi Bulls will invariably win toss and bat first if luck is on their side. They’ve got great results from batting the opposition out of the game with a huge first innings score, and we expect them to stick to that winning formula. Should the Northern Warriors win the toss, they might make things interesting by asking the Bulls to chase, which they’ve not done well particularly.
Delhi Bulls have the firepower, the intent, and a lot of other reasons to go all in for this contest. Northern Warriors, on the other hand, do not have much going for them. But they are very much keen on spoiling the party for Delhi Bulls, though. Will Northern Warriors have the last laugh?
We are backing Delhi Bulls as the winners of this contest.
