Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) take on Gujarat Titans in the 26th match of IPL 2025 this Saturday in Lucknow. LSG’s season has been a mixed bag so far — they’ve won three and lost two, which puts them in fifth place. Gujarat, on the other hand, have bounced back strong after dropping their first game, stacking up four straight wins to top the table. While LSG have the benefit of playing at home, Gujarat’s current momentum gives them the edge heading into this matchup.

Not many had Lucknow Super Giants pegged as contenders when IPL 2025 got going, but with three wins from five games, they’re still in it. Their last outing was a high-scoring thriller in Kolkata, where they smashed 238-3 and held on for a narrow 4-run win—even as KKR threatened to chase it down early.
Mitchell Marsh (81 off 48) and Nicholas Pooran (87* off 36) led the charge. Both have been in red-hot form—Marsh has racked up 265 runs in five games at a strike rate of 180.27, including four fifties. Pooran, meanwhile, leads the team’s run tally with 288 runs at a strike rate of 225.
Aiden Markram seems to be finding his groove too—his 47 against KKR was smooth, and he’s now got 144 runs at 142.57. But outside of them, the batting has looked thin. Rishabh Pant’s form has been a worry—three scores in single digits have left the middle order under pressure. David Miller hasn’t looked comfortable either, struggling to find timing or rhythm.
Badoni and Samad have chipped in here and there, but they’ll need to step it up if the top doesn’t fire.
Shardul Thakur leads the wickets tally with nine from five games, but his economy of 10.82 has been an issue. Akash Deep’s return hasn’t helped much either, with his economy sitting at 12.62.
Ravi Bishnoi hasn’t looked himself—just four wickets and conceding at 11.84. The bright spot in the attack has been Digvesh Rathi. He’s got seven wickets in five games and has managed to keep things relatively tight with a 7.75 economy. On this wicket, he will be LSG’s biggest X-factor.
Pooran has hit 24 sixes in 5 matches, averaging 4.8 sixes per match. He is in the best of ball striking form at the moment and will be an ideal against Rashid Khan and Sai Kishore.
Pooran is the leading run-scorer in the season with 288 runs in 5 matches, averaging 72. He has smahed 3 half centuries, but at Lucknow he has scored 56 runs in two matches this season. Expect Pooran to continue his good run of form and play another match winning knock.

After a stumble in their opener at home in Ahmedabad, where they lost to Punjab, Gujarat Titans have snapped back with four straight wins. They now sit at the top of the table and are starting to look like the kind of team no one wants to face.
The top-order trio of Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill, and Jos Buttler are starting to click. Sudharsan, in particular, has been on another level—he’s scored 273 runs in five matches, averaging 54.60 with a strike rate of 151.66. The left-hand opener has already notched up three half-centuries, including an 82 off 53 in their last match against Rajasthan Royals that helped secure a 58-run victory.
Gill hasn’t been as consistent, managing just one fifty, but he’s the kind of batter who’s never far from a big score. We think he’s due for a 40-plus knock in this one.
In the middle order, Sherfane Rutherford has quietly chipped in with impact—136 runs at a strike rate of 178.94 across five innings speaks for itself.
GT used Washington Sundar as the Impact Sub recently, and he made his first appearance of the season against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Coming in with the side in trouble at 16 for 2, he counter-attacked with a brisk 49 off 29. This might be an ideal game for him to make another appearance.
With the ball, the core group has been doing the heavy work. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna have been effective, and Sai Kishore has kept it tight. Siraj is picking up early wickets, while Kishore has been tidy through the middle overs with a 7.25 economy. Between them, Siraj and Kishore have 20 wickets.
Krishna’s also been impressive, grabbing eight wickets while going at just 7.05 per over.
Rashid Khan hasn’t quite hit top gear yet, but the slower surface at Ekana might bring out the best in him. This attack has been the foundation of GT’s success, and these conditions should suit them just fine.
With 273 runs in 5 matches, Sai Sudharsan is the 2nd highest run-scorer in the season. He is in sublime form and has already scored 3 half cenutires and has one 40+ score. The southpaw can adapt to any conditions quickly and score runs according to the situation. We back Sai Sudharsan to continue his good run of form and score over 29 runs.
Jos Buttler has scored 202 runs in 5 matches and is the second highest run-scorer for the Titans. Buttler scored 36 runs in 25 balls in the last match against the Rajasthan Royals. In four of the five matches he has scored over 30 runs. He is a consistent run-scorer and the best batter to bet on against LSG to score over 27 runs.

The Ekana Cricket Stadium pitch won't allow batters to attack freely early on, though runs should still come at a decent rate. As the match wears on, the surface slows down, bringing spinners into play during the middle overs. Seamers will have to bowl cutters and slower ones to keep the batters in check.
While Lucknow's conditions will be hot and sticky, the forecast shows no rain to disrupt play.

Average TurnEkana Cricket Stadium typically sees first innings scores around 166. During last season's IPL, Kolkata Knight Riders set the highest total at this ground with 235-6 against Lucknow Super Giants, cruising to a 98-run victory. Judging by the opening two matches at Ekana in IPL 2025, teams will want to aim for 190-200 runs to feel comfortable defending their total.
We back the home team Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) to win the coin toss in match 26 of TATA IPL 2025.
The average total match score in the two matches played at Lucknow this season is 377. The surface at Lucknow has changed over the last two seasons and the average scores have gone up drastically. Both LSG and GT batters are in top form in the last couple of matches. Expect another high scoring match and the total score to be over 356.
Setting runs has served better instead of chasing in the IPL this season, with eight of the last nine games being won by the team batting first. In Ekana, too, the last match saw the team batting first emerge victorious. Hence, batting first would be the safer option in this game, especially as this is an afternoon fixture.
Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans both come into this one riding wins, and they'll want to keep that going. For LSG, the plan’s pretty straightforward — Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran need to lead the charge with the bat, and the bowlers have to keep things tight. Gujarat look better-rounded overall, which is why they’ve managed to handle different conditions without too much trouble. If Marsh and Pooran get going, LSG will have a real shot. They also have a bit of unpredictability with the ball thanks to Digvesh Rathi. But if LSG's top order doesn’t fire, Gujarat are more likely to take control. Given how balanced GT are, they seem like the safer pick to win.
Back Gujarat Titans as the winners of this contest.
